Government to borrow GHS4.968 billion in latest treasury bills auction


The government is set to borrow GHS4.968 billion in its next treasury bills auction.

This is expected to be from the 91-day, 182-day bill and the 365-day bill.

In its latest treasury bill auction, the government secured GHS5.30 billion missing its target of GHS6.558 billion.

The auction that happened on August 9, 2024, issued on August 12, 2024, secured GHS4.101 for the 91-day bill.

The government accepted GHS967.19 billion for the 182-day bill and GHS231.14 billion for the 365-day bill.

Last week, the government sold a total amount of GHS 3.803 billion. Interest rates stood at 24.82% for the 91-day bill, 26.76% for the 182-day bill, and 27.85% for the 365-day bill.

According to the Bank of Ghana results, all bids tendered in this week’s auction were accepted.
