Accra: Mrs. Beatrice Asamani Savage, the Director of Editorial at the Ghana News Agency (GNA), reminded the Agency’s reporters of their crucial roles in nation building and the importance of positive reportage, particularly in the upcoming election to ensure credibility. She emphasized that quality information, free from inflammatory and divisive language, is essential to create a well-informed society capable of making informed decisions to advance democracy.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Asamani Savage addressed journalists, stringers, and volunteers of the GNA Western Regional Office during a workshop on Election Reporting. She highlighted the responsibility of the media to provide content that fosters cohesion within Ghanaian society rather than creating divisions. Citing instances of electoral violence resulting in instability and lack of development in many African countries, she stressed the importance of safeguarding Ghana’s peace.

egarding past electoral successes, noting that each election comes with its unique dynamics. She emphasized the need for professionalism and cautioned against being swayed by political figures offering incentives.
Mrs. Justina Paaga, the Western Regional Manager of GNA, in her welcoming address, underscored the Agency’s commitment to training and skills acquisition to ensure journalists produce quality reports. She advised participants to perform their roles effectively and carefully, especially when covering identified hot spots in the region such as Shama, Ellembelle, Wassa East, Essikado-Ketan, and Amenfi Central. Emphasizing personal safety, she reminded them of the importance of staying safe to continue their work.
Mrs. Paaga expressed gratitude to the Management for organizing the training and expressed hope that it would enable reporters to produce credible and engaging stories during and after the December 7 elections.
