Ghanaians don’t need your revenge on Uruguay — Bulldog on Asamoah Gyan’s plan to play 2022 World Cup

Born Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson and widely known as Bulldog has rubbished Asamoah Gyan’s bid to play for the Black Stars at the upcoming Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Recently, the former Black Stars skipper, and also Africa’s highest scorer in the history of the FIFA World Cup, commented on his readiness to play in the upcoming World Cup and his revenge on Uruguay.

It can be recalled that in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the Black Stars of Ghana almost advanced to the semi-final if not for the fact that a ball which was already in the net was removed from the net by Suarez with his hands in the last minute part of the game.

Unfortunately, the penalty which was awarded to Ghana was missed by Asamoah Gyan, which later led to the defeat after a penalty shootout.

In reaction, the controversial entertainment pundit on the Accra-based UTV’s United Showbiz program on Saturday, August 20, monitored by Modernghana News, said the planned revenge by Asamoah Gyan is unnecessary.

“What is the revenge about? Do you think Ghanaians want revenge? Are you the one seeking revenge or Ghanaians? Have we told you we need revenge? When did we speak to you about revenge? Why is he saying that?” he quizzes

He adds “when you’re a legend, you’d want to correct some errors before you retire; that is what he wants to do. Honestly, he did well for Ghana but that penalty he missed has become a dent.”

Though Bulldog never disputes the fact that Asamoah Gyan can play in the tournament, he emphasized that “the circumstances are not the same. If it’s because of revenge, he should stay home.”
