Accra, Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai, a World Martial Arts Committee (WMAC) and World Boxing Council (WBC) Muay Thai 86kg Champion, has presented training kits to Kickboxers of the Pro Fighting Factory Gym, formerly known as the Power Zone Club in Ghana.
Nyanyo Nmai, who won the 2016 Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Kick Boxer of the year award, presented the kits to the President of the Ghana Kick Boxing Association (GKBA), Nii Adotey Dzata I, during a visit in Holland.
According to Nmai, Ghanaians are very good in all sporting disciplines, but they lacked the sports infrastructure and modern equipment to excel.
“They train under harsh conditions, which are not ideal for amateurs and professionals.
“The new training kits would go a long way in inspiring the local fighters to put in their best, as they see a future in the sport”. Nyanyo Nmai stated.
Nii Adotey Dzata I (Joseph Mingle) said the kits had come at the right time, as the fighters are now very serious with their training.
He said “very soon there would be a tournament to pick the national team called ‘The Terminators’, to prepare for some international championships.
The President of the GKBA thanked the champion and urged other kick boxers elsewhere to emulate the example of Nmai and give back to the nation.
Nii Adotey Dzata I further noted that, “some people come into sports for personal gains, but they must learn how to give and support others”.
