Ghana Digital and Innovation Week 2025 Begins to Champion National Digital Transformation

Accra: The Ghana Digital and Innovation Week (GDIW) 2025 has officially commenced, marking a nationwide celebration of creativity, technology, and entrepreneurship. Held on the theme ‘Catalysing Change: Innovation and Digital Transformation at the Centre of Ghana’s Development Agenda,’ the Week is hosted by a consortium comprising Impact Investing Ghana (IIGH), the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), and the Ghana Hubs Network.

According to Ghana News Agency, this year’s edition highlights how digital innovation is transforming local economies and empowering communities across the country. Now in its fifth year, the annual event has begun with a series of regional editions in Takoradi, Koforidua, Techiman, Wa, and Kumasi, with additional events scheduled for Tamale. These regional activities showcase local innovators and start-ups developing practical solutions to real-world challenges – including agritech, climate-smart innovations, digital trade, and youth entrepreneurship.

Speaking
at the launch, Mr. Emmanuel Ofori, Director of Innovation at the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, said the event aligned with government’s efforts to foster an enabling environment for digital transformation through investments in infrastructure, youth digital skills, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship. ‘We remain committed to building the digital rails upon which transformation can happen,’ Mr. Ofori said. ‘From broadband expansion and e-government services to the rollout of digital ID systems, the real power of transformation lies in our people and platforms – the start-ups, innovators, and partnerships that give meaning to innovation.’

Mr. Yaw Adu-Gyamfi, Chairperson of the Ghana Hubs Network, noted that since its inception in 2021, GDIW had provided a platform for collaboration within Ghana’s innovation ecosystem. ‘This year’s theme signals maturity in our ecosystem – one that moves beyond ideas to focus on systems, jobs, and impact,’ he said. ‘GDIW is a national call
to action where ideas meet investment, policy meets people, and innovation meets opportunity.’

As GDIW 2025 progresses, it continues to advance the goal of a digitally inclusive and innovation-driven Ghana through policy advocacy, investment readiness support, and the promotion of home-grown innovations nationwide. The event will culminate into the Grand Finale in Accra from November 12-14, 2025, where regional winners, ecosystem leaders, and international partners will converge to showcase Ghana’s innovation story to the world.
