GFA provides injury update on midfielder Edmund Addo

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has disclosed that midfielder Edmund Addo has been unable to recover from his injury and hence has been ruled out of Ghana’s clash against Nigeria this weekend.

The Black Stars are scheduled to host the Super Eagles on Friday, March 25, 2022, in the first of the two-legged tie in the African qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.

Today, the Ghana FA in a communique has disclosed that scans have revealed that Edmund Addo cannot take part in the two matches following a thigh injury.

‘’Edmund complained of pain in the right thigh so we decided to take a scan to know the real situation.

“Unfortunately the scan results revealed that he has a tear in the right thigh and would need two to three weeks to recover so I informed the Coach about it and the decision was that we should allow him to travel to Moldova for treatment,” Team Doctor Adam Baba told ghanafa.org.

Meanwhile, information gathered from sources indicates that the Technical team of the Black Stars has decided to proceed into the Nigeria game without inviting a replacement for Edmund Addo.

There will however be a consideration depending on the result from the clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium tomorrow.
