Former Tsiame Assembly Member Charges Keta MCE to Prioritise Completing Projects

General

Keta: Mr Bernard Sukah, the former Assembly Member of Tsiame Electoral Area in the Keta Municipality, Volta Region, has urged Mr Wisdom Seade, the newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), to focus on completing unfinished projects in the area. He emphasized that this initiative would create jobs and opportunities for the youth, thereby addressing the issue of unemployment.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Sukah, who also serves as the Patriotic Party (NPP) Secretary in the Keta constituency, highlighted various challenges facing the area, including lack of job opportunities and inadequate support for farmers. He noted that the government, led by Nana Addo, initiated a cassava processing plant at Dorveme in the Tsiame electoral area to tackle unemployment and provide a market for farmers, particularly cassava farmers.

Mr Sukah pointed out that the factory, still in various stages of completion, would be the first of its kind in the Municipality. Once operational, it is expected to create over 200 jobs for the youth in the area. He expressed that completing the factory would not only set a historical precedent as the first factory initiated by a previous administration and completed by the current government in the Keta Municipality but also represent a significant step toward reducing unemployment.

He described the ‘Tapioca’ Starch or dehydrated Cassava plant as a high-quality processing facility for cassava flour, gari, and fufu powder. Mr Sukah believes this initiative should be part of President John Dramani Mahama’s flagship 24-hour economy policy in the Municipality.

Additionally, Mr Sukah urged the MCE to address the activities of Fulani herdsmen, particularly in Tsiame and surrounding farming communities like Doveme and Noliwotagbor. He stressed the importance of preventing damage to farm products and avoiding potential disputes between residents and herdsmen.

Mr Sukah congratulated Mr Wisdom Seade on his nomination as MCE, attributing it to his dedication and achievements as the Assembly Member of the Anyako electoral area and constituency Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Keta. He praised the unity among assembly members, as evidenced by their unanimous endorsement of the new MCE, and urged them to use this unity to drive development projects in the municipality.

Furthermore, Mr Sukah called on companies, individuals, businesses, tourists, and benevolent organizations to prioritize the development of the area, focusing on sectors such as education, health, sports, and the economy for the benefit of the public.
