Elmina (C/R) – Elmina Sharks missed an opportunity to move within the top four on the league log as they were held 1-1 all draw by Liberty Professionals in their Ghana Premier League match played at the Dr. Nduom Sports Stadium.
Benjamin Tweneboah coolly slotted the ball past Liberty Professionals after some poor defensive marking to open the scoring for Sharks in the third minute, but was not enough to earn them the three maximum points.
Despite this setback in the early stages of the game, Liberty Professionals warmed themselves into the game and mounted pressure on the home side in search of an equaliser, as they dominated play but were wasteful in-front of goal.
Elmina Sharks goalkeeper, Francis Arthur made some dramatic saves to keep the score line at 1-0 at half time.
On resumption, the Scientific Soccer boys continued from where they left off in the first half and took absolute control of the game, forcing the home side to play a defensive game.
It was therefore no surprise when striker Ernest Papa Arko scored the much needed equaliser with long range shot to beat goalkeeper Francis Arthur to level the scores.
The home side could have regain their lead in the 88th minute when striker Felix Addo was gifted with a glorious opportunity, but blasted the ball into the waiting arms of goalkeeper Emmanuel Anum to the disappointment of their anxious supporters.
