Dreams FC and Muritala crowned Gala and Marathon Champions

Accra, Dodowa based football Club Dreams FC and Mutakilu Muritala, a marathon runner were crowned champions in the annual Fifi Soccer Foundation football gala tournament and marathon held at Ayenya, in the Greater Accra region from December 1-2.

The competition organised by California based former Columbus Crew player, Fifi Baiden, brought the community together to create awareness on Malaria and HIV/AIDS.

Hundreds of people from Ayenya and the surrounding communities participated in the two day event.

Health professionals at the Ayenya Community Health Centre educated the people on preventive measures and how to treat the diseases. Some participants took part in voluntary malaria and HIV tests at the centre.

Dreams FC won the gala after topping the round robin 5-Group tourney with 6 points, followed by Lo FC with 5 points while host club Fifi FC settled for third place with 4 points. Ayikuma FC and Regent FC came fourth and fifth respectively with 4 points and 2 points each.

There were lots of thrill in the marathon event, which started from Dodowa Hill Top to Ayenya, where the Fifi Soccer Foundation is located.

Accra based Muritala beat a quality field of 40 competitors to the ultimate crown in a time of 38minutes: 58seconds whilst Isaac Dudor, a coach at the Fifi Soccer foundation claimed the second position in a time of 42minutes: 38seconds with Bismark Adzali settling for third with a time of 45minutes: 48seconds.

The Foundation aims at giving hope and a better future to orphans and underprivileged children in Ghana by empowering them with valuable tools through education and sports. They also cater for the adults in the community through their adult education programmes.

Founded in June 2017, the Fifi Soccer Foundation is at the moment located at Ayenya, but according to Fifi Baiden, who is the founder and CEO, there are plans to relocate to Loum, near Dodowa, in the near future.
