A mob from Ekpu near Half-Assini in the Western Region on Wednesday morning vandalised the Half-Assini Police Station after hearing the news of the death of a suspect in police custody.
The cause of death is yet to be verified.
The mob smashed the official vehicle, windows and the counter at the Police Station to back their demand and the timely intervention of the MP for the area, Mr Paul Essien, saved the situation.
Over a hundred people including women clad in red attire, arm and head bands led by the Assemblyman, Mr Peter Miezah Angate, arrived at the station about 10:00 hours.
Speaking to the media, Mr Angate said the deceased was arrested about 05:00 hours on Sunday for allegedly stealing.
