Damaged ‘Haul Road’ affects waste collection in Kumasi

Kumasi- Engineers of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) have begun rehabilitation works to put into shape the damaged ‘Haul Road’ connecting the Oti Land Fill Site at Dompoase.

The road had for some time now been rendered unmotorable due to continuous rainfall in the city.

Mr Godwin Okumah Nyame, Public Relations Officer of the Assembly, speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Kumasi, after an inspection of the project said the latest unpleasant development was affecting the collection of waste in the metropolis.

Vehicles authorized to dump refuse at the land fill site find it virtually impossible to commute the road.

Mr Nyame appealed to the public to bear with the Assembly as they worked assiduously to repair the road.

He appealed to the public to desist from dumping refuse haphazardly, saying, the KMA would not countenance any practices likely to affect negatively its efforts at keeping the city clean.
