Christians urged to serve God with fervency
Accra, The Reverend Dawood Akwah, the Head Pastor of Accra West branch of Holyfire Churches International, during the Watchnight Service on Sunday, urged Christians to remain focused in serving God and not be destructed by the schemes of the Enemy.
He said for Christians to please God they must humble themselves as servant as Christ abandoned his heavenly kingdom and brought salvation to mankind.
Rev. Akwah, who delivered the sermon in Accra, to usher-in the New Year under the theme: Serving God with Fervency; Your Opportunity for Greatness, entreated Christians to set their priorities right and work towards securing eternal salvation.
He cited Mark 10 verse 29-30, which reads: No one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age and in the age to come eternal life.
Rev. Akwah noted that Christians who serve the Almighty diligently would be rewarded by their father in heaven and cited Proverbs 14 verse 23, which says; All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads to poverty.
He challenged believers to work harder to win more souls for Christ as the end of the world was nearing, while the Satan had also intensified his works to win souls for destruction.
The service was interspersed with poignant and evocative gospels songs amidst singing and dancing by the congregants who welcomed the New Year with declaration of God’s blessings and favour.
The congregation, most of whom were clad in white apparel, thanked God for His abundant mercies and grace in 2017 and asked for more blessings in the coming year.
Rev. Akwah led them to pray for the country and the political leadership and asked for God’s protection, guidance, peace and prosperity for all.
