Charger Ltd. abrogates contract with Kotoko NCC
Kumasi – Charger Company Limited, manufacturers of Happy-man Bitters, a popular alcoholic beverage in Kumasi, has terminated its sponsorship deal with the National Circles Council (NCC) of the Kumasi Asante Kotoko S/C.
Mr. Emmanuel Borketey Bortey, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), said the two parties, at a meeting, agreed in principle to abrogate the contract in their own interest.
The decision, he said, was triggered by the company’s disapproval of the current rift between the NCC and the Kotoko management, saying they had decided to pull out of the contract until the Kotoko fraternity resolved that issue.
Mr. Bortey, confirming this to the GNA Sports, in Kumasi, said they also wanted to protect the image of the brand, stressing that the company could not be associated with institutions engulfed in internal wrangling.
Charger Limited signed an agreement with the NCC last year, and under the contractual terms, the company was to assist the supporters group with a monthly allowance of GH 8, 500.00.
This was to aid them in mobilizing fans to the stadium during Kotoko’s home and away matches.
Mr. Bortey said their doors were still opened and that, the company could rescind its decision in future if the NCC and management resolved their differences.
