Kudus was excellent despite loss to Newcastle – West Ham boss David Moyes


West Ham United manager David Moyes has described Mohammed Kudus’ performance in Saturday’s game against Newcastle United as excellent.

The Ghana star was on the scoresheet for the Hammers in the narrow defeat to the Magpies.

West Ham United boss David Moyes praised Mohammed Kudus and his attacking partners ahead of their next match against Tottenham.

“Our attacking players have been very good in recent weeks, and that was the case again against Newcastle at the weekend.

“I thought some of the individual performances were excellent, and Michail Antonio, Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen all got on the scoresheet.

“Mick getting another goal is very important, and he took his chance very well. All round, I think our forward play is very good, and hopefully it is again on Tuesday night,” David Moyes said.

The next game in the English Premier League between West Ham United and Tottenham will be played at the London Stadium on Tuesday, April 2.

Ghana’s 4×100 men’s relay team qualifies for Paris Olympics


Ghana’s 4×100 men’s relay team has qualified for the Paris Olympics, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

Their qualification comes as a result of the team’s remarkable outing at the just-ended 13th African Games held in Accra, where they placed second in the men’s 4×100 finals.

Ghana’s quartet, namely Benjamin Azamati, Joe Paul Amoah, Edwin Gadayi, and Solomon Hammond, clocked an impressive time of 38.43s to win the silver medal.

This finish at the African Games has seen Ghana ranked the 15th best quartet in the world, which automatically secures a spot for them at the Paris Olympics.

This would be the second consecutive Olympic qualification for Ghana’s 4×100 men’s relay team, having featured at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Ghana’s 4×100 men’s relay team, who hold the African Games record (38.30s) are the first to qualify from Ghana for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Raymond Asante debuts for Udinese’s first team in friendly


Raymond Asante earned a Udinese First Team call-up on Monday 25 March, 2024 and featured in friendly against Padova.

The 18-year-old was introduced in the last 20 minutes of the match after replacing Isaac Success.

Despite his side tasting a 3-2 defeat, the youngster is lapping up the experience of playing for the senior.

”The call-up was a surprise for me because I had gone for my personal training in the morning. I then had a message in the locker room to get ready for the match. The feeling is different I must say and tonight’s sleep will be different,” Asante told GHANASoccernet.com

Asante has been impressive with his 15 goals in the Primavera 2 and has also bagged six assists in the season.

Kwesi Nyantakyi details how Anas allegedly paid back $100,000 bribe he offered him for Number12 documentary


Former president of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has alleged that he paid $100,000 to ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas for him not to air his part in the Number 12 documentary.

Nyantakyi, in an Onua FM interview, detailed the conversations and transactions that ensued prior to the airing of the documentary.

He mentioned some prominent figures who had knowledge of the situation and were involved in the arrangements that led to him making an alleged payment of $100,000 to Anas.

He said that he got a refund after he was featured in the documentary which was aired in 2018.

‘Before the video was released, a former colleague at the GFA Exco, Adam Munkaila, took me to Anas’ lawyer. I met him at his residence around Westland and he told me Anas was his student and had informed him he needed $150,000 to kill the story.

‘I gave them $100,000, but they told me the amount was inadequate and later went ahead to release the video,” he said in an interview with Captain Smart on Onua
TV Tuesday morning.

‘After the video came out, I asked for a refund and even the refund was done in instalments. Today, they would bring $20,000, and the next day another $10,000. They were giving me stories, but eventually I got everything back,’ he said.

In the same interview, Kwesi Nyantakyi who is seeking to replace John Kumah as the MP for the Ejisu constituency apologized to President Akufo-Addo for mentioning his name in the documentary.

“I admit I was wrong to mention the President [Akufo-Addo] and his Vice [Dr Mahamudu Bawumia] in that incident. I am sorry and I hope they forgive me,” he said.

I have no issues with George Afriyie but he’s not my friend – Kwesi Nyantakyi


Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has refuted claims of having issues with ex-GFA vice president, George Afriyie.

George Afriyie accused Nyantakyi of greediness after he allegedly turned down his request for him (Nyantakyi) not to contest the 2018 GFA elections.

This led to tensions between the two and George Afriyie was subsequently dismissed from the GFA.

In an interview on Onua TV, Nyantakyi clarified that he harbours no ill feelings towards George Afriyie.

‘I have no issues with George Afriyie,’ he confessed.

‘If someone offends me I don’t keep it in me, and I’ve let go of everything but I will not call him, he’s not my friend that I call for us to sit somewhere or go to the bush canteen to eat fufu,’ said Mr Nyantakyi.

Nyantakyi is now seeking to contest the Ejisu constituency by-election as a candidate of the NPP.

Maame Dokono names Asamoah Gyan among Ghanaians she helped


Veteran Ghanaian actress, Grace Omaboe, alias Maame Dokono, has mentioned legendary Ghanaian footballer, Asamoah Gyan, as one of the many Ghanaians who benefited from her many years of acting career.

Maame Dokono disclosed on Happy FM that her benevolence extended beyond the entertainment circles, with some Ghanaians in the corporate and medical fields also benefitting.

Without providing details of the said help, Maame Dokono mentioned Asamoah Gyan and Shatta Wale as two of the people she helped during her career.

‘I helped a lot of people in this country. Asamoah Gyan and Shatta Wale are part of those people I helped. Shatta Wale passed through my hands at some stage. Some of the people I helped are bankers, and doctors, amongst others. I did that because I don’t want to see people suffer,’ she said.

In a 2018 interview with TV3, Maame Dokono detailed how she provided a platform for Shatta Wale’s creative career to blossom.

She explained in the interview that she groomed Shatta Wale and Asamoah Gyan by
giving them opportunities on the then-popular show, By The Fire Side.

‘Shatta Wale was a gong-gong beater in By the Fireside… he’s one of the numerous persons I have helped,’ she stated.

Asamoah Gyan is widely regarded as the most prolific goal-scorer in the history of the Black Stars, with 51 goals to his credit.

He also holds the honour of being the African footballer with the most goals in the World Cup – 6 goals.

He retired with a record of 51 goals in 109 appearances for his country in June 2023.

The ceremony, which was held at the Ibn Battuta Stadium in Tangier, fascinated spectators around the world with its unique artistic performances that highlighted Moroccan heritage and its openness to the world.

The ceremony paid tribute to the famous Moroccan explorer Ibn Battuta, a symbol of the link between cultures and peoples, and his travels that contributed to Mor
occo’s opening to the world. Moroccan folk troupes also presented artistic displays reflecting the richness and authenticity of Moroccan heritage. The ceremony also paid tribute to the daughter of football legend Pelé and featured a special appearance by national coach Walid Regragui.
