Thomas Partey isn’t good enough to do what Casemiro does, says Rio Ferdinand

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand says Casemiro is an intelligent and a better player than Thomas Partey when the two midfielders are compared.

Both players have been pivotal for their respective clubs in the ongoing Premier League season.

The aforementioned midfielders faced each other several times in the Madrid derby in Spain, when Partey played for Atletico Madrid and Casemiro lined up for Real Madrid.

Partey, who is Ghana’s deputy captain is expected to feature against Manchester United on Sunday at the Emirates as Arsenal hope to continue their fine run with Casemiro expected to sit out due to suspension.

Ferdinand acknowledged the importance of both players to their teams but said Casemiro is on another level.

“I think the importance to their teams…you could argue both sides quite equally. But then, when you through the stats in Casemiro wipes him away,” the former Manchester United defender said on his podcast, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“No, no no. I don’t think Partey is good enough defensively to do what Casemiro is doing, I don’t think he has the impact defensively for Man United, on the ball he’s doing more.”

“On the ball, he’s [Partey] doing more. He’s dictating play for Arsenal. He’s actually playing passes I didn’t know he had. His passing has been unbelievable.”

Arsenal are currently eight points above Manchester United on the Premier League table and could further extend their lead at the top if they beat the Red Devils this weekend.

Domestic Debt Exchange: Menzgold is better than this government – Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has slammed the Akufo-Addo-led NPP government over the domestic debt exchange program.

He stated that negative impact the debt-swapping policy will have on bondholders will be no different from what the gold investment firm Menzgold did to its customers.

Contributing to the matter on Accra-based Metro TV’s “Good Morning Ghana” show, Sammy Gyamfi asserted that the same reason the government embarked on the financial sector clean-up, including NAM 1’s defunct Menzgold, is what is currently looming.

He claimed that the Finance Ministry headed by Ken Ofori-Atta was not able to pay its creditors, hence their move to force Ghanaians to carry the cross of overborrowing and high spending.

“…Menzgold is better than this government. The financial companies that you shut down, what was the reason? You shut them down because they were unable to pay their depositors. Today, you can’t pay your creditors, are you better them,” he stated.

His statement comes amid countless protests from Ghanaians, both at home and abroad, over the debt restructuring program.

UBA Ghana ranks number one in customer experience

Accra – UBA Ghana has been ranked the highest in the retail segment of the Ghana Banking Industry Customer Experience Survey 2022 conducted by KPMG Ghana.

It was closely followed by Standard Chartered, ABSA, CalBank and NIB, in that order.

Mr Anthony Sarpong, a Senior Partner KPMG in Ghana, in a forward to the survey report, said more than ever before, getting customer experience right created an enduring competitive advantage not just for banks but all service providers whether in the private or public sector.

He said for financial services providers, it was a critical success factor, especially going forward as business and operating models had been disrupted.

“Considering this, expectations have been heightened exponentially as customers expect their best experiences to be replicated irrespective of industry,” he added.

He said customers now preferred to patronise brands that were aligned with their values in line with their changing priorities, hence, it was important for banks to keep environmental, social, and governance at the heart of their operations as sustainability was now a top priority.

Mr Sarpong said additionally, with remote working arrangements becoming normalised coupled with an accelerating digital agenda, convenience had become deeply embedded in the lives of people.

He said as the digital momentum grew, cyber threats also continued to persist, and that banks were left to find a fine balance between meeting customers’ needs and keeping their money safe, stressing that digital maturity for organisations was now a must have in today’s world.

“In fact, a customer strategy must go hand in hand with a digital strategy in order to meet and exceed expectations,” he said.

The Senior Partner said ultimately, building a customer-centric organisation was what all business leaders should aim for.

The insights from the report is expected to help banks rethink their approach to customer experience.

The report said competition in the retail segment was relatively more intense compared to other banking segments largely due to the low cost of switching banks.

“More so, retail customers are spoilt for choice and desire banking experiences that suit their lifestyle,” the report said.

Mr Chris Ofikulu, Managing Director & CEO of UBA Ghana, said, “This recognition is a great honour for the Bank and a validation of our customer first philosophy.”

He said they were humbled and at the same take tremendous pride to have been the only bank to score above 80 per cent in the retail customer experience survey.

“This number one ranking is a clear indication of the hard work and dedication of our customer service representatives across our offices, who consistently go the extra mile and beyond to provide outstanding customer service.”
