Carpenter in court for defilement
Accra An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday granted Richard Montcho, a 30-year-old carpenter bail in the sum of GH30,000.00 with three sureties for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl.
The plea of Montcho was not taken to enable the victim’s age to be verified but he is to reappear on April 17, 2018.
Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire told the Court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku that the complainant sells food and drinks and the victim is the house help of the complainant in the case.
Montcho is a resident of Community 8 Lakeside, Ashaley Botwe, where the complainant and victim also lives.
The accused, a regular customer of the complainant’s spot took advantage of that familiarity and lured the victim into the complainant’s unused kiosk nearby and forcibly had sex with the girl.
This happened on three different occasions between February and the third week of March this year.
The accused had warned the victim not to tell anyone, else, he would kill her, but the victim who could not bear the pain any longer broke the news to the complainant’s child, who also informed the mother.
A formal report was made to that effect, and a medical report form was issued for the victim to be sent to the hospital, which has been duly endorsed.
This led to the arrest of Montcho and after investigations, he was charged and put before court.
