Annor Walker, Head Coach of Ghana’s local based national team, the Black Galaxies, says his team will be well prepared for their clash against Nigeria in the final round qualifier of the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The Black Galaxies recorded an emphatic 4-0 aggregate victory in their two-legged encounters against Benin, progressing to the next round to face Nigeria.

Daniel Afriyie scored the only goal for Black Galaxies in the second leg encounter in Cotonou as they edged close to a return to the competition since 2014.

In a post-match press conference after the victory, Coach Annor Walker commended his team for their tactical discipline throughout the match.

The Accra Great Olympics gaffer was wary of the threat Nigeria would pose in the final qualifying round but said they would be well prepared for their arch-rivals.

According to Coach Walker, he had watched video clips involving the Nigerian counterparts together with his technical staff and would map out strategies to prevail in the clash.

“We have studied the way Nigeria play and we have monitored their games. So, we need to plan very well heading into the clash,” he said at the presser.

When asked what accounted for the resounding victory against Benin in both legs, Coach Walker revealed that they had put in place a strategy to stop their opponents from scoring, which worked for them.

“In the first match at Cape Coast, they didn’t allow us to play until we scored the two goals. We expected them to be physical and push more men forward in the second leg, but we were tactically better than them, “he said.

The Black Galaxies would take on their Nigerian counterparts in a first leg encounter to be played in Accra on August 26-28, 2022.

The second leg in Abuja would be played on September 2-4, 2022.
