AZ Alkmaar manager Maarten Martens has applauded Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Sadiq after he netted the match-winner against Almere City in the Dutch Eredivisie opener.
The Dutch giants traveled to Almere for the opening game of the campaign, and Sadiq wasted no time in registering his name on the scoresheet, firing just four minutes into the match.
Sadiq, who took time to settle in the Eredivisie, continued from where he left off at the end of last season.
“A nice reward for Sadiq,” Martens said as he praised the Ghanaian’s form since arriving in September 2023.
The Right to Dream Academy graduate looks set for a big campaign following a brilliant start to the season.
Meanwhile, in a fiercely contested game on Saturday evening, three players-one from AZ and two from Almere-were red-carded.
Sadiq was replaced in the second half by Dutch-born Ghanaian winger Ernest Poku.
