Avoid posting nude pictures to impress boyfriends – Gender Director
Ho- Madam Comfort Ablormeti, Volta Regional Director, Department of Gender, has said there is a developing trend of girls posting nude pictures of themselves on the internet just to impress their boyfriends.
She said such girls felt the act made them acceptable and loved but cautioned them against the practice to avoid a lifetime stigma with negative consequences.
Madam Ablormeti was speaking to some pupils and students in the Volta Region at a durbar organized by J. Initiative, a non-governmental organization to mark this year’s Safer Internet Day held under the theme: Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you.
It seems like the norm now but you will become a public ridicule when the images get into the public domain, she said.
Safer Internet Day is a global annual celebration aimed at ensuring responsible use of technology to promote positive content and safe services online for children.
It also targets the creation of safer internet, better internet, where everyone is empowered to use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively.
Mr Israel Akrobortu, Regional Director, Department of Children, said the Day would create the opportunity for stakeholders to discuss issues related to safety and security of children on the internet and safer online community.
He called on parents to be circumspect in limiting the amount of time their children spend online and the content of the sites they visited.
