Avoid drugs and mobile phone use during driving – Supt. Owusu
Nsawam (E/R)� Superintendent Marian Osei-Adu Owusu, the Nsawam Municipal Police Commander, has advised drivers to avoid drugs and the use of mobile phones to ensure safe driving.
She urged drivers to obey road regulations and regularly check and maintain their vehicles to ensure they are in good shape before embarking on any journey, especially as the Christmas approaches.
Supt. Owusu gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after educating some groups of drivers in the Municipality on road safety as part of measures to prevent or reduce accidents.
She said the intake of alcohol, speeding and wrongful overtaking by drivers were some of the major factors that caused road fatalities and advised the drivers to avoid those practices.
She gave the assurance that the police would continue to provide security and were ready to combat crime in the Municipality.
Nana Otieku Baah II, the Chief of Kwasi Doe, a suburb of Nsawam, and the Chairman of Anidaso Proctual Drivers Union, advised the drivers to desist from working under the influence of tramadol, cocaine and other hard drugs, which lead to road accidents.
He urged them to respect the orders of police personnel and abide by road regulations.
