Auto mechanic remanded for robbing two persons
Accra – An Accra Circuit Court has remanded an auto mechanic into Police custody for allegedly robbing two persons of their mobile phones, money and other personal belongings at a beach resort in Accra.
Abednego Oman and two others now at large are alleged to have engaged in the act after arming themselves with knives and scissors.
Oman, 18, charged with two counts of robbery pleaded not guilty before the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh.
He is to reappear on April 11.
Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu told the court that the complainants Dennis Botchway and Emmanuel Victor Amoah are Event Organiser and Front Desk Officer respectively. The complainants reside at Weija in Accra while the accused reside at Bortianor.
Chief Inspector Adu said on March 10, this year, at about 1730 hours, Emmanuel and Dennis were returning home after visiting the Oshiyie Beach.
On reaching a section of the road close to Muuston Beach Resort, Oman and two others now at large emerged and attacked them with scissors and knives and ordered them to surrender their belongings.
Prosecution said the complainants out of fear, acceded to their request and they made away with one Techno C7 Mobile Phone, One Itel Mobile Phone, a wrist watch and cash of GH70.00.
Soon after the robbery, Oman and his accomplices run towards Oshieyie Township.
A report was made to the Police and on March 12, this year, Oman was picked up by the Police at his hideout.
