Accra – The Atuu Festival of Arts kicks off with a Durbar of Traditional Rulers, creative arts practitioners, opinion leaders, state officials, the media and the public on May 3 in Sekondi.
The first will take place at the forecourt of the Omanhene for the Essikadu Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsia V.
A statement signed by Mr Asare Konadu Yamoah, the Chairman of the Joint Committee of Collection Management Organisations (JCCMOs) and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the festival would be climaxed in August with a two-day fiesta at the Castle Forecourt in Accra.
It said there would be competitions for youngsters between the ages of 15-21 in creative writing, song writing and sights and sounds for which the winners will be announced at the climax of the festival in August.
“The climax will feature art exhibitions, symposium, drama and a musical concert featuring some top Ghana acts.
“The JCCMO is the umbrella organisation of the collection management organisations in Ghana with ARSOG, GHAMRO and Copy Ghana as the members.
“The Atuu Festival of Arts was launched in August last year at the Golden Tulip Hotel with the celebrated musician Agya Koo Nimo as the keynote speaker”, the statement said.
