Asuboa builds own community clinic
Asuboa (Ash), A community clinic built by the chiefs and people of Asuboa, a farming community in the Asante-Akim South Municipality, to take care of their health needs, has been inaugurated amid fanfare and ecstatic scenes.
It has come to save the sick the trouble of traveling long distances to Juaso and Bompata to receive treatment.
Mr. Alexander Frimpong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), applauded the people for the bold decision to tackle a felt need and improve the quality of their lives.
He pledged that the assembly would continue to stand with those who took the initiative to help themselves, every step of the way.
The project was started by the community with its own resources and labor before the assembly stepped in to complete it.
Mr. Frimpong said it was a good example to people in the other communities to cherish the values of selflessness and sacrifice.
That, he said, should be the way forward to speed up the development of the municipality.
Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo, Chief Executive Officer of Public Sector Reforms, and a native of the town, asked all to find space to contribute their quota to the nation’s progress.
He said everybody should be part of the effort at transforming the society and making things better.
Mr. Ruben Osei Antwi, the District Director of Health Services, indicated that the facility was strategically located to serve other communities including Dampong and Kwabeng.
He entreated the people to give strong support and cooperate with health professionals posted to the facility.
Mr. Lord Paul Kwarkye, the assembly member, announced plans to build a bungalow for the health workers sent to work at the clinic.
