Apostle Eric Nyamekye Urges Ghanaians to Uphold Integrity and Honesty

Accra: Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairperson of the Church of Pentecost (COP), has called on Ghanaians to prioritize the values of integrity, honesty, and accountability, emphasizing that these are crucial for the nation’s development. He highlighted the importance of not only focusing on physical development but also nurturing the core values of the society. Without a transformation in these values, meaningful and sustainable progress would remain elusive.

According to Ghana News Agency, Apostle Nyamekye made these remarks during a courtesy visit by the planning committee of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving (NDPT). The committee sought to introduce themselves, brief him on the event’s activities, formally invite him, and seek his guidance. The NDPT aims to unite Christians, Muslims, and other religious groups under the theme: ‘Reflect, Reset, and Renew for National Prosperity.’

The event will feature a Christian segment at the forecourt of the State House from 0800 hours to 1000 hours, followed by Muslim prayers at the National Mosque from 1230 hours to 1400 hours. It is scheduled to occur simultaneously across all 16 regions and 266 districts.

Apostle Nyamekye emphasized the significance of giving thanks to the Lord, noting that national gratitude to God yields collective benefits. Reflecting on the recent elections, he remarked on the peaceful resolution of tensions and underscored the need for gratitude not only for past blessings but also for future ones.

He further stressed that appreciating God leads to greater rewards than constant complaining or demands. While thanking God for the peace Ghana enjoys, he highlighted the importance of praying for the nation’s prosperity, as peace alone is insufficient.

Apostle Nyamekye urged the religious community to reflect and counsel themselves, aligning faith with actions. He pointed out the contradiction of devout worshippers engaging in corruption, emphasizing the need for genuine change in both actions and values.

Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the Chairperson for the Committee, remarked on Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of peace in West Africa. Despite electoral tensions, the nation consistently emerges with democratic stability. He noted the President’s acknowledgment of divine grace in his election victory and emphasized July 1 as a day of prayer, meditation, and reflection, marking both independence and the transition to a republic.

He advised attendees to wear national colors or attire reflecting unity rather than party colors, promoting national pride during the event.
