Ancelotti: I’ll talk with Lewandowski, but about tactics
Munich, Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti says he sees no need for talks with Robert Lewandowski following an interview in which the Poland international was critical of the club’s transfer dealings.
Ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League game against Anderlecht, Ancelotti said Monday: “I don’t have to speak to Lewandowski about his interview. I have to speak with him about the strategy for the match against Anderlecht.”
On signings in general, the Italian coach said he believed Bayern’s summer arrivals would make the German champions better.
Germany defender Jerome Boateng will meanwhile return to the squad for the first time this season, Ancelotti said.
Captain Manuel Neuer said the team’s full concentration should be on the tasks ahead.
“For me as a captain, it is important that we play successful football,” the Germany goalkeeper said.
“We should focus on this, and that will help us the most. Everyone has the goal, no matter what position, for us to get better as soon as possible.
“It’s important to start well. We want to lead the group from the beginning.”
Bayern suffered a 2-0 defeat at Hoffenheim on Saturday and have six points from their first three Bundesliga games going into the Group B match in the Allianz Arena.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had voiced his displeasure with the Lewandowski interview with Spiegel magazine in which the striker also questioned the marketing worth of the club’s pre-season Asian tour.
