Accident claims two lives at Akyem Ayinase

Akim Anyinase (E/R)� Two people died instantly while two others sustained various degrees of injuries, when a KIA bus run into their Toyota Fortunner vehicle at Anyinase in the Akyem Mansa District.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ebenezer Tetteh, Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer who spoke to the Ghana News Agency named the deceased as; Patience Fletcher, Medical Doctor and another whose name was given as Madam Philomena, while Dr Kwame Ofori Boadu and Mr William Larbi, their driver who sustained various degrees of injuries had been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment.

According to the Police PRO, they were on their way to the funeral of Dr Kofi Asare, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia Constituency, when the KIA bus ran into their vehicle.

He said about 08:00 hours, Mr Jonas Akuffo, 32 year-old driver of KIA bus with registration number GT 4921 -15 with passengers on board from Kumasi to Oda had a break failure and ran into a Toyota fortuner with registration number GT 6284-14 at river Aku near Akim Anyinase.

He said the Toyota fortuner belonged to the Kumasi South Hospital.

ASP Tetteh said passengers in the KIA bus who also sustained various degrees of injuries were rushed to the Akim Oda Government Hospital while the driver Mr Akuffo is in the firm grips of the Akim Oda Police assisting in investigation.
