Accra: The Advertisers Association of Ghana (AAG) recently convened its 33rd annual general meeting, focusing on initiatives aimed at transforming the advertising landscape in Ghana. The meeting was a platform for presenting auditors’ reports, electing, and inducting new members for the forthcoming years.
According to Ghana News Agency, President of the Association, Mr. Andrew Ackah, highlighted the significant changes AAG has experienced over the years. He noted improvements in member recruitment, dues payment, the association’s website revamp, and a new logo introduction. Mr. Ackah pointed out a notable 63% increase in membership dues payments this year compared to 2023, with total contributions reaching GHC 341,125, up from GHC 208,700.
Mr. Ackah emphasized that this growth underscores the association’s increasing recognition and the support it offers its members. He revealed that 15 new corporate members and five individual members joined the association this year. Additionally, the AAG has engaged in w
orkshops, community engagements, advocacy, and representation to bolster members’ capacity to adapt to digital trends.
Strengthening international ties, the AAG has collaborated with global advertising associations to exchange knowledge and best practices. Mr. Ackah noted positive outcomes from engagements with Cannes Lions and allied organizations.
Strategic goals for 2025 were outlined, focusing on enhancing member benefits, digital transformation, women’s participation in advertising and marketing conferences, and the ‘AAG Brand of Quarter’ project awards.
Guest speaker Mrs. Esther Cobbah, President of the Institute of Public Relations Ghana (IPR), emphasized the importance of adapting to the digital world. She encouraged AAG executives to foster co-creation, as it builds relationships and supports the association’s long-term sustainability.
Mrs. Cobbah highlighted the need for collaboration between advertisers and marketers to create professional content that resonates with consumers. Despite facing
competition and digital innovations, she urged members to work together to uphold and preserve the AAG. She called for inclusivity and a sense of belongingness among members to support the association’s mission.
The meeting concluded successfully with the election of new members and the reappointment of Mr. Andrew Ackah as President of the Association for the upcoming years.
