Bodi DCE Urges Revenue Collectors to Intensify Mobilisation Strategies

Bodi: Mr Stephen Baidoo, the Bodi District Chief Executive (DCE), has tasked the department in charge of revenue mobilisation to intensify its strategies to increase the Assembly’s Internally Generated Funds (IGF), to adequately finance its programmes and projects. He announced this directive during the Sefwi-Bodi District Assembly’s Second Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Fourth Assembly held in Bodi, Western North Region.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Baidoo highlighted that the Assembly received GHC19 million as its share of the District Assembly Common Fund for 2025. However, he noted that these funds from the central government come with specific guidelines, limiting their use to earmarked projects and programmes. This necessitates the need for the Assembly to rely on its IGF for projects not covered by the Common Fund.

Mr Baidoo pointed out that the Assembly has achieved only 39 percent of its 2025 IGF targets, which has adversely impacted project funding. He emphasized the importance of generating more revenue internally, explaining that the disbursement of the District Assembly Common Fund is directly linked to the amount generated internally. Consequently, he urged for an intensified strategy to boost internal revenue generation.

Mr Fusein Haruna, the Bodi District Coordinating Director, also addressed the assembly members, encouraging them to collaborate with citizens in their electoral areas to devise strategies for resolving sanitation and environmental issues. He urged members facing road infrastructure challenges to liaise with his office for the release of DRIP machines to address bad road conditions.
