Abankesieso: The newly enstooled Denkyirahene, Odeefo Boa Amponsem IV, exchanged pleasantries with a host of dignitaries, chiefs, and invited guests at Abankesieso in Dunkwa-on-Offin, following his arrival at the traditional capital to finalize his installation. The event drew hundreds of people, marking a significant moment in the Denkyira Traditional Area’s history.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Denkyirahene was ushered to the durbar grounds amid drumming, dancing, and chants of appellations, where he greeted dignitaries who had gathered to pay their respects. The event saw the presence of paramount chiefs, divisional and sub-chiefs, government officials, religious leaders, representatives of security agencies, and executives from corporate institutions. These attendees extended congratulatory messages to the new Denkyirahene.
Notably, political figures, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the immediate past Vice President of Ghana, were in attendance. Odeefo Boa Amponsem, dressed in black kente, gracefully moved along the dais, exchanging smiles with guests. The interactions were marked by mutual respect, laughter, and traditional gestures of goodwill.
Representatives from the Central Regional House of Chiefs and traditional councils from neighboring areas also paid homage to Odeefo, pledging their support to ensure harmony and development in Denkyira. Cultural troupes entertained the crowd with traditional dancing, drumming, and performances, fostering an atmosphere of unity.
The exchange of pleasantries at Abankesieso symbolized royal courtesy and reflected the unity and respect binding the people of Denkyira. Speaking during the exchange, Mr. Kofi Konadu of the University of Cape Coast Campus Broadcasting Services expressed appreciation for the overwhelming show of support. Mr. Konadu, an indigene of Denkyira Kingdom, stated, “We are deeply humbled by the support and presence of everyone here today. Your goodwill strengthens our resolve to serve Denkyira with dedication, peace, and unity.”
