Ministry of Tourism Conducts Orientation for National Film Authority Board and Management


Accra: The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts has organized an orientation and capacity-building session for the Governing Board and Management of the National Film Authority. This initiative aims to enhance leadership, teamwork, and emotional intelligence within the Authority’s operations.



According to Ghana News Agency, this session is part of the Ministry’s larger capacity-building strategy, designed to equip agencies under its supervision with the necessary skills and mindset for efficient public service delivery. Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the sector minister, emphasized the importance of structure, collaboration, and continuous learning in fostering institutional growth.



The minister highlighted that while the creative sector thrives on passion and expression, it should also be guided by professionalism, respect, and strategic cooperation. She stated, “We are emotional people, but we must learn to communicate effectively, respect structures, and work together for the collective good of the sector.”



The orientation program marks a crucial step in promoting a culture of collaboration and accountability within the National Film Authority, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to building a more professional and outcome-oriented creative sector. The Minister urged board members and management to position themselves as leaders capable of earning public trust, stressing that leadership in the creative industry should reflect discipline, empathy, and a commitment to national development.



She reassured participants of the Ministry’s continued support to enhance their output, noting that despite financial constraints, there is a wealth of expertise within the Ministry that can be leveraged to improve the performance of its agencies.



Mr. Otto Langmagne, the Director for Human Resource Management at MOTCCA, remarked that true leadership extends beyond authority. It involves inspiring, influencing, and guiding others towards a shared vision. He emphasized the importance of adaptability, empathy, and effective communication in resolving conflicts and achieving organizational goals.



Mr. Ivan Quashigah, the Chairman of the National Film Authority Governing Board, expressed gratitude to the Ministry for the session, describing it as “timely and insightful.” He stressed the significance of emotional intelligence in leadership, stating that effective leaders must be able to “read situations, understand people, and make decisions that promote harmony and progress.”



Mr. Quashigah also commended the Minister for providing office space for the Authority and appealed for additional logistical support to facilitate the execution of its mandate.
