I am not disappointed by TGMA snub – Safo Newman

Up-and-coming artiste Safo Newman has said he was not disappointed that his hit single ‘Akokoa’ did not make it into the nominees list for the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

Safo Newman burst onto the music scene with ‘Akokoa,’ which quickly garnered a substantial following and impressive streaming numbers on social media platforms in 2023.

Fans believed the track would attract some nominations for the 2024 TGMAs.

However, upon the release of the list, the song was notably absent, not even making it into the Unsung category, despite endorsements from prominent figures like rapper Sarkodie.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Safo Newman shared how he was forewarned about the potential snub, thus, he was not really hurt when his song was absent from the list.

He shared that while he values recognition, his passion for crafting impactful music transcends the pursuit of awards.

“When I filed for nomination for TGMA, an insider told me my song did not meet the criteria for selection. So yeah, I
expected a brush-off. It did not come as a surprise to me though.

“Some songs are so unique that they fall outside of award schemes. The world needs such songs so I am not bothered by the snub. In fact, it is a motivation for me to work harder.

“I will be making good music without pressure. We are just putting in the work and if it gets recognised, thanks be to Jah, but that is not my primary motive. Awards are not my motivation for making music. I aim to create songs that have a lasting impact on everyone,” he shared.

King Promise is more likely to win ‘Artiste of the Year’ over Stonebwoy – Halifax Ansah-Addo

Entertainment pundit and media personality Halifax Ansah-Addo has stated that Ghanaian Afrobeat artiste King Promise is more likely to win the prestigious Artist of the Year award at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) in June 2024 than Stonebwoy.

In a discussion on United Showbiz on UTV on May 27, 2024, he revealed that he had initially supported Stonebwoy because of his active involvement with fans and successful promotion of his music.

However, he was astonished by the large quantity of work that King Promise had gathered.

“My bet was on Stonebwoy; he’s worked, and he deserves it. His team has also found a nice way of pushing him and his work on us. You get to know what he’s doing, whether you like it or not.

“Until tonight, I didn’t know King Promise had worked. When they gave me King Promise’s repertoire, I was shocked, and I started to revise my notes. I would not be surprised if King Promise gets it,” he told MzGee, host of the show.

Halifax acknowledged that King Promise’s efforts had
been largely ignored until recently. He said the artiste should have been more proactive in engaging with the Ghanaian market.

“I think going forward, people like King Promise should be more deliberate about getting the Ghanaian market involved in the things he does.

“He is doing so, but it is rather late. I’m not sure they can use this last week to catch up. Unlike Stonebwoy, who over the years has been vocal about his activities,” he said.

King Promise and Stonebwoy join artistes including Black Sherif, Nacee, and Sarkodie in contention for the ‘Artiste of the Year’ award, one of the most prestigious accolades at the awards ceremony.

It’s foolishness – Santiago fumes over sex allegations against wife

Kumawood actress and makeup artist Naana Brown and her husband, Nana Acheampong, popularly known as Santiago, have addressed damaging rumours about their relationship and family life.

According to Santiago, persons accusing his wife of infidelity are unreasonable. He refuted claims that his wife takes care of him with the money she receives from having sexual affairs with other men.

Speaking on The Delay Show, the famous radio presenter, visibly upset by the allegations, defended his wife and outlined his own accomplishments, saying, “I have a lot of businesses. I used to be a radio presenter and a movie maker.”

“I produced movies, directed movies, and acted. We’ve shot many series including ‘Hostel TV Series’ and ‘True Colors.’ I moved into the creams, restaurant, and food business. I am the financier,” he added in Twi.

Santiago continued, “Those saying Capito has slept with my wife are foolish. I know where it’s coming from, and all those who know about this social media game would understand. It didn’t
start from Capito. It started from Rev Owusu Bempah.”

When asked if he would consider conducting a DNA test to confirm the paternity of their children, Santiago firmly dismissed the idea.

“I won’t conduct any DNA test. I know the children are mine because they look exactly like me. The resemblance is glaring,” he stated.

Naana Brown and Santiago, who have three children and are expecting their fourth, used this platform to dispel the malicious rumours and reinforce the solidity of their marriage and family.

During an interview aired on May 25, 2024, Naana Brown spoke about the strength of their marriage, stating, “What has kept us together is how we are. We are friends, we are jovial, and we don’t harbour pain. I respect him.”

She stated that there have been attempts to separate them because people are jealous of their union.

She said: “Claims that my husband doesn’t work and that I’m sleeping around to make money are false.

“I have always hailed my husband, and people became envious of how we are, so
they wished bad for us. They began to use false claims to tarnish my image with hopes of breaking us apart.”

Naana Brown is known for her work in the Kumawood film industry. She has appeared in and produced several films and TV series, such as “Akrobeto Amani Hunu,” “Saman Abufuo,” and “True Colours”?.

It would be recalled that Naana Brown made headlines with serious allegations against the Head Pastor of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Prophet Owusu Bempah and actress Diamond Appiah, accusing them of bribing her house help to poison her and her husband. This accusation came to light following remarks from Evangelist Mama Pat (Nana Agradaa), who claimed to have audio evidence of the plot.
