The wings is the most competitive spot in the Black Stars – Joseph Paintsil

Joseph Paintsil has disclosed the most competitive positions in the Black Stars are the wing positions.

The Black Stars have abundance of options when it comes to wingers with Jordan Ayew, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Osman Bukari, Paintsil, Ernest Nuamah, Andre Ayew, and Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer all available.

In Ghana’s last game against Angola, Jordan and Sulemana were handed the starting role but it took substitutes Paintsil and Bukari to get the equalizer.

However, Paintsil in an interview with 3Sports explained that the players are not bothered by which player gets handed the starting role in games because they are all quality players.

“We have a lot of wingers, great players also so being in the Black Stars is a competition not only on the wings but the whole team. When people have a good season they also have a chance,” Paintsil stated.

He added, “The wing side is a competitive thing but we are all one players and enjoy playing. Whoever starts doesn’t really bother us because we know the quality of every player so we do believe in everyone even if you don’t start.

The player went on to state, “It’s a competition but its also lovely to play with competitive players because it gives us the confidence to do more. We always want one team for Ghana to qualify every competition in everything that we find ourselves in.”

What Owusu Bempah said in the alleged leaked audio threatening IGP, Akufo-Addo

An alleged audio recording attributed to Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah, the founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministry International, has surfaced, where he is heard issuing threats against the current Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo Dampare.

The leaked audio, contains menacing remarks directed towards the IGP, citing recent arrests and alleged maltreatment as the motivation behind the threats.

In the audio, Prophet Owusu Bempah claims to have played a significant role in the election of President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo and highlighted the sacrifices made to secure his victory.

Shockingly, he alleges that some individuals lost their lives, others suffered serious accidents and endured amputations as part of these sacrifices. The controversial man of God warns IGP Dampare that he will deeply regret assuming the position and hints at his intention to retaliate for the alleged mistreatment during his arrest and an alleged plot to assassinate him.

The leaked audio further reveals Prophet Owusu Bempah instructing an unidentified person to deliver his message to Dampare.

The instructions include asking specific questions regarding past interactions with President Akufo-Addo, inquiring about the relationship between Owusu Bempah and the president’s wife, and urging Dampare to seek information from media personality Captain Smart about Owusu Bempah’s activities/sacrifices prior to Akufo-Addo’s presidency.

Prophet Owusu Bempah repeatedly emphasizes his belief that without his involvement, Akufo-Addo would not have ascended to the presidency.

He alleges that his actions compelled the president to conceal certain activities while abroad and return to Ghana. The prophet also maintained that as a result of Dampare’s treatment meted out to him, both he and Dampare are now on a collision course.

Read a transcription of the audio below:

“Maame, tell Dampare that Akufo-Addo is aware of my contributions to his success, and now that I have started making noise, he is feeling the pressure. Tell Dampare that I am saying that he will regret becoming IGP, and tell him I said what I will do to him in Ghana he will regret. Let him know that if it wasn’t for me Akufo-Addo couldn’t have become president. Tell him because Akufo-Addo became president, someone’s leg has been amputated… Someone’s car somersaulted on Tema Motorway, ask him if the time I met with Akufo-Addo he was there. Ask him if he knows the relationship I have with Akufo-Addo.

“Ask him about the time when Akufo-Addo’s wife and Aunty Ama Busia came to me. Where was Dampare standing then? Tell Dampare to contact Captain Smart and find out what Owusu Bempah did before Nana Addo became president. Does he think Nana Addo’s presidency was a simple matter? Does he know the sacrifices we made? It was due to that that Maame Gladys Asmah died, and because of that, Maama Ama Busia’s leg had to be amputated. If he wants to hear the things, I can reveal in this country…

“Akufo-Addo did not become president easily. Because of Akufo-Addo’s presidency, Maame Gladys Asmah died … if someone hadn’t died, Akufo-Addo wouldn’t have become president. Does he know the secret actions we took? Akufo-Addo has summoned NPP leaders to ask them to plead with me. He was abroad, and it was because of me that he had to shelve his activities and return to Ghana. He didn’t realize what Dampare did to me, the way they came after me, him, and Kofi Boakye.

“Tell Dampare that he has met his match, and he will see what I will do to him. If it wasn’t for me, Akufo-Addo wouldn’t have become president, never. Because of Akufo-Addo, a young guy named Albert who gathered NPP supporters to approach me had his car somersaulted on the Tema Motorway. It was so severe that they had to cut the car before retrieving his body…

“ Do you know how much I have suffered because of Akufo-Addo? Tell him that Owusu Bempah has contacted you and that I will do something to him in this country (Ghana) that will make him flee. Let him know that the two of us cannot be contained in Ghana. And tell him that I will show him that I made Akufo-Addo a sitting president before he was appointed as the IGP. Also, inform him that he cannot kill me or harm me in any way. Let him joke around, and he will see what I am capable of.

“Tell him that I will never forgive him on this earth… the way he and Victor Kusi Boateng were coming to kill me in Kumasi. I have all the information. So, I am giving you this message. Inform him that I have already told Ernest Owusu Bempah and Chairman Wontumi. Chairman Wontumi doesn’t even pick up my calls. If you don’t pass on this message to Dampare, I will be disappointed in you. Tell Dampare that he will regret his position as IGP,” part of the audio said in Twi.

We need to totally abolish and make it illegal for witches’ camps to exist – Ablakwa to Parliament

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzato Ablakwa, has called on state authorities to immediately close all witch camps across the country.

He stated that it is an extreme embarrassment and national disgrace that Ghana still has witch camps across the country in this century and era.

The MP was emphatic that such activities are clearly discriminatory against elderly people who are vulnerable, particularly women with low financial status in society.

He urged Parliament and other state institutions in charge of the media to bring those who hide behind religious practices and deceive people in the name of religion to justice.

He made these remarks today in Parliament while responding to Ketu South MP Dzifa Abla Gomeshie’s statement on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2023.

Members on both sides of the House joined in condemning some cruel and uncivilised activities commonly directed at the elderly.

“You can see that this is clear discrimination against elderly people who are in the vulnerable category. Mr. Speaker, if you are elderly and you are rich, who has an inheritance her children can have, is never declared a witch. But once you are poor, once you don’t have any property, you are very vulnerable, then you are immediately classified as a witch, and you are thrown into witches’ camps.

“Mr. Speaker, this cannot continue. We cannot accept any cultural justification for that. And in doing so, we must call to order those who hide under religious practices; people go for prayers and then all of these charlatans false prophets, which the bible tells us will abound in the last days are in active practice, and they tell people that the grandmother is responsible for your woes. Mr. Speaker, we cannot accept this.”

He stressed that the existence of these witches’ camps represents a grave violation of the human rights of our senior citizens.

To him, the existence of these camps is a stain on Ghanaians’ conscience.

Nothing, he said, should prevent MPs from pursuing a Private Members Bill to completely abolish this practice and make witches’ camps illegal.

Why I seized articulator truck owned by Ghanaian businessman – Baffour Gyan explains

Former Ghana international, Baffour Gyan, has explained his decision to hold onto an articulated truck that is at the center of a dispute.

A businessman named Emmanuel Bonfeh had reported Baffour Gyan and his brother Asamoah Gyan, who co-own Paradise Mineral Water Company, to the police, accusing them of stealing his truck.

However, Baffour Gyan has come out to clarify that the issue does not involve his brother, Asamoah Gyan, and rather stated that he is the one in possession of the truck.

He went on to explain the circumstances leading up to the issue, stating that they had agreed to purchase the truck from a businessman known as Big Tim, who owed debts to Paradise Mineral Water Company.

Baffour Gyan revealed that Big Tim had claimed his money was misused by the people handling the business and expressed a desire to quit. Consequently, Big Tim sold the truck to Baffour Gyan for 350,000 cedis, including the outstanding debt of 200,000 cedis.

According to Baffour Gyan, after the agreement was made, Big Tim changed his mind and demanded the return of the truck, despite still owing money.

Weeks after the disagreement, Baffour Gyan said he was summoned to the Mile 7 Police Station, where he was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

Unknown to him, the truck belonged to Emmanuel Bonfeh who sold it Big Tim but the latter had failed to pay the full cost of the vehicle, prompting the owner of the truck to file a report at the police.

Baffour Gyan justified their decision to retain the truck, citing the uncertainty surrounding the repayment of their money.

Read Baffour Gyan’s statement in the interview below

The issue at hand is not about the Gyan brothers; it revolves around me. As everyone knows, we own Paradise Mineral Water Company, and this particular individual expressed interest in becoming a distributor in Kumasi. We agreed to provide him with 50,000 packs every month for delivery. In order to assist him further, we even gave him two cars to aid in the distribution and supply process.

He started working and informed us that he had purchased a truck to facilitate the water supply. The truck had a capacity of 6000 packs and made its second delivery. At this point, I reminded him about his outstanding debts from the previous delivery that the truck was involved in. He promised to pay but unfortunately failed to do so.

I contacted him because he is currently in America, and he informed me that the people handling the business had misused his money. He owed us 200,000 cedis, but after conducting an audit upon our arrival in Kumasi, we discovered that only 26,000 cedis had been misused.

Later on, he expressed his desire to quit the business due to his belief that his money was being squandered. As a result, he sold the truck to us for 350,000 cedis, with the condition that we add the 200,000 cedis he owed us.

However, he called us at one point and stated that he no longer wanted to sell the truck. Instead, he demanded that we return it and repay our outstanding money.

About a month later, I was invited to the Mile 7 Police Station and charged with possession of a stolen car. Unbeknownst to me, he had purchased the truck from someone else, and the original owner reported it as stolen after the cheque bounced.

Given the circumstances and the uncertainty surrounding the repayment of our money, we decided to retain possession of the truck. The Mile 7 Police Station commander contacted the individual in America, and although he promised to return the water owed to us, he has not done so to this day.
