Christian Pulisic on the move to leave Chelsea with AC Milan among frontrunners for USMNT star

Christian Pulisic looks set to leave Chelsea this summer as the Blues have reportedly given the USMNT star the green light to find a new club.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims there is “concrete chances” the Hershey-born forward will call time on a disappointing spell in west London. Pulisic has had several memorable moments in a Chelsea shirt, and was crucial to their 2021 Champions League-winning run, but his four-year spell has largely been blighted by injuries and inconsistency.

The mass influx of players brought in by the new ownership this term, not least in attacking positions, appears to have been the final straw. Pulisic managed 30 appearances across all competitions this season, with the majority coming from the bench. It has previously been reported that the American was keen to move on this summer, and Romano notes that Chelsea have given the go-ahead.

Given the club’s need to make up for £121 million ($152m) in losses last year, a transfer could suit all parties. AC Milan have emerged as the frontrunners to capitalise on the situation, with fans already convinced Pulisic is heading to northern Italy. The USMNT winger will likely need a pay cut in order to do so, though, something which he is said to be happy to concede.

Be calm – Bishop Salifu ‘begs’ Nogokpo traditional council, residents

Founder and Leader of Alive Chapel International, Archbishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, has entreated residents and members of the Nogokpo traditional council to remain calm amidst the brawl between Archbishop Charles Agyinasare and them.

His plea comes as tensions are high following the comment made by Archbishop Agyinasare that Nogokpo is the demonic headquarters in the Volta Region.

According to the man of God, his colleague in the ministry meant no harm when he passed those comments.

He said Agyinasare has rendered an apology to tranquil the grudge, therefore, he must be forgiven to let sleeping dogs lie.

“We are all Ghanaians and this is the issue at hand. I’ll plead with them (Nogokpo shrine) to be calm. I have even heard that, the same place the bishop stood to make those comments, he has apologised through the same venue so I’ll plead that he’ll be forgiven,” he stated.

Background

The Founder and Leader of Perez Chapel International, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, has come under heavy criticism following his sermon to his congregation on May 24, 2023.

During the third day of the Supernatural Summit held at the headquarters of Perez Chapel in Accra, the Archbishop preached about divine protection and the existence of evil forces, citing several examples to support his teaching.

In the course of his preaching, Agyinasare recounted an incident where his team received spiritual attacks for hosting a crusade in the Volta Region.

“During this crusade in Aflao… we slept at Agbozume, that was where our hotel was, and you have to go through Nogokpo. And Nogokpo is the demonic headquarters in the Volta Region. We have only not said it, but the second night I made Bishop Yaw Adu talk about witchcraft and we disgraced the witches and wizards. When we were driving from Aflao to Agbozume, immediately we got to Nogokpo, Bishop Yaw Adu’s four-wheel drive, the tire came out from under the car,” he recounted.

Following his comment, traditional leaders in Nogokpo, on Friday, June 2, 2023, issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Christian leader.

They demanded that the respected clergyman personally meets with them for a peace talk regarding derogatory statements he made about Nogokpo being the “demonic headquarters of the Volta Region.”

The chiefs expressed their disappointment and called for a resolution to address the harm caused by Agyinasare’s remarks.

The chiefs clarified that Agyinasare’s comments imply that Nogokpo is a hub for wicked and evil individuals in the Volta Region.

Assin North by-election: Sammy Gyamfi misfired – Allotey Jacobs

The National Communications Officer of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi accused the Electoral Commission (EC) and the governing government of conniving to input Charles Opoku’s name into the voters’ register despite him not being a registered voter in the Assin North constituency.

According to him, this action reeks of bias and has clouded the EC’s judgement and interpretation of CI 127 as contained in the Commission’s document.

“We are closely monitoring this situation and shall take every legitimate step to ensure that this illegal plot is not carried out by the Electoral Commission and their collaborators in the NPP,” Sammy Gyamfi stressed.

EC replies NDC

But the EC has described the allegations as unfounded and baseless saying “Ghana’s democracy has come of age and we call on Sammy Gyamfi to exercise maturity, decorum and truth in his discussions on the EC. We urge him to go out and campaign and leave the EC alone”.

It also stated; “Over the years Sammy Gyamfi and his party have put out false claims aimed at maligning the integrity of the EC. This was evident in their petition to the Supreme Court after the 2020 Elections alleging that they had won the Elections.

“It is well known that they could not provide evidence in Court to support their allegations. This current allegation is no different. It is baseless and unfounded and a figment of the imagination of the National Communication Officer.”

The Commission called on “all well-meaning Ghanaians to ignore” the NDC allegations.

Wading into the discussion during a panel discussion on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, former NDC Central Regional Chairman now turned Social Commentator, Allotey Jacobs said Sammy Gyamfi “misfired”.

Galamsey investigation: We are going after everyone – Special Prosecutor

Ghana’s Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng has revealed that the Office of the Special Prosecutor is going after all persons mentioned in the report on illegal small- scale mining released by the former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng.

Kissi Agyebeng explained that small-scale illegal mining known as galamsey has taken root in most Ghanaian communities, and people from different societal class engage in the menace as such, his office would leave no stone unturned in its attempt to clamp down on galamsey.

“See, galamsey is very far reaching as I keep saying it and it has engulfed us as a nation, and so we are leaving no stones unturned. Our gloves are off and we are coming against everyone and every person who we think should be dragged in before us. Everyone and every person!” the Special Prosecutor made this known in a one-on-one interview on Newsfile.

Answering a question on who his outfit has investigated so far, the Prosecutor declined to mention names as he believes it would temper with their investigations and also inform the movements of suspects, however, he assured Ghanaians, his office is working tirelessly to bring all culprits to book.

He explained, “This is very dicey because it is a live investigation, it is still ongoing and sometimes depending on what you put out in public, you might jeopardize the nature of the investigations. For instance, if I say I have directed you to appear before the OSP then someone who is your associate would be thinking they are next and so because of that, I wouldn’t want to into details but several persons have appeared before us already and many more persons are going to appear before us. We are fighting this and we are going to see to the end of this.”

The Special Prosecutor called on Ghanaians to remain confident that the Office of Special Prosecutor would show no mercy to all who degrade and destroy the environment.

Future NDC government will embark on another SIM registration exercise – Sam George

Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram and Deputy Ranking Member on the Communications Committee of Parliament, Sam Nartey George has stirred controversy by stating that a future NDC government will undertake another SIM registration exercise.

According to him, the current SIM card re-registration exercise regardless of the inconvenience to the subscribers is flawed.

Speaking to the media on the back of a briefing by the Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Sam George clarified the intended registration will not require subscribers to show up physically at the offices of the telcos.

“…We stand here on behalf of the people of Ghana to demand that the Minister of Communications takes the rightful steps to ensure a clean register without disenfranchising Ghanaians many of whom the money for the feeding of their families is stuck on their SIM Cards. If that is all you needed to buy medication for a sick family member, you’ll realize the pain that Ursula has put people through,” he said.

“Again, let us be clear that it is not true they are using this to fight crime. Don’t forget that the Ghana Card fundamentally is flawed and that’s why we have served notice that the next NDC government will do a proper re-registration which will not involve you having to go and cue in telecom offices but we’ll do a proper re-registration of SIM cards.”

Family blames Central Aflao hospital over death of member

The family of Linda Adua, a 39-year-old caterer is accusing the management of the Central Aflao Hospital, also known as Nkansa Hospital of medical negligence leading to the bizarre death of their sister.

In a petition signed by Madam Abigail Adua, the deceased’s sister on behalf of the family, addressed to the Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye and copied to the media, the family said but for the lukewarm attitude towards Linda by some staff of the hospital on duty at the time their deceased sister was brought to the facility, her life would have been saved.

The petition said in the early hours of Thursday, April. 11, 2023, Linda (deceased) complained of ill health and requested that the son accompanied her to the Central Aflao Hospital to seek medical treatment.

The petition added that upon reaching the hospital, two nurses on duty, Mr Kelvin Fenuku and Ms Christine Kebah refused to attend to the deceased upon the basis that the hospital didn’t accept electronic money transactions or mobile money, as the deceased had no physical cash on her and pleaded to pay for the GHC 400. 00 deposit she was asked to pay via mobile money.

The family said, the nurses looked on unconcerned and busily scrolled through their mobile phones whiles the deceased cried and begged them to at least administer some first aid or oxygen to her as she was having difficulty in breathing.

Master Jerry Nii Tetteh, the deceased’s 19-year-old son said in an interview that “all these while my mother begged to be attended to, I was out of the hospital premises on the instruction of the nurses looking for a mobile money merchant to assist in withdrawing the money to pay the deposit for my mum – it was so early in the morning about 4.00 am. I didn’t find any merchant even after going as far as the border, about two kilometres from the hospital, so I had to return without the physical money – and by the time I got back I realized that my mum still sat in the wheelchair where I left her, still crying for help and I can sense that her condition was getting worse,” Master Tetteh narrated.

He said the nurses then told him to go look for a taxi to convey her late mum to the Ketu South Municipal Hospital “as her condition was getting out of hand and beyond their strength.”

Master Tetteh said, upon reaching the Ketu South Municipal Hospital about a kilometre from the Central Aflao Hospital, unaccompanied by any of the nurses, Linda was pronounced dead on arrival by medical staff there, who according to Master Tetteh, was sure she had passed away several minutes before reaching their facility.

The family is therefore by the petition calling on the Director General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to call for an immediate inquiry and thorough investigation into the unfortunate incident, to forestall a recurrence of the same in health facilities across the country.”

Dr Alphonse Makafui Dzakpasu, Medical Superintendent of the Ketu South Municipal Hospital confirmed to this reporter that a case of that nature was reported to the Ketu South Municipal Hospital on the said date, but the patient was brought in already dead.

Dr Gabriel Kwadjo Nkansa, Medical Director of the Central Aflao Hospital told our reporter that, the hospital received a copy of the petition in question and said the facility was conducting its investigations to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the contents of the petition.

Asked whether the hospital management was aware of any such incident on the said date in the hospital’s records as captured in the petition, the medical director declined further comments and said the hospital was seeking some legal advice on the issue.
