What a greedy charlatan – Blakk Rasta slams Ofori-Atta for refusing to resign

Blakk Rasta, born Abubakar Ahmed, a seasoned Ghanaian reggae singer and media personality, insists Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has no right to hold on to his post following the mass disapproval from Ghanaians.

He claimed that the under-fire minister is not medically fit and must resign amid the country’s economic hardships.

“This is Ofori Atta, and when you look at his face, this man is so sickly and so unashamed to talk about his sickness yet will not move out of the space. What a greedy charlatan!” he yelled on his “Black Pot” show on Accra-based 3FM.

The U-turn made by the finance minister to go to the IMF despite pushing the controversial E-levy he claimed was the “economic saviour” on Ghanaians, he said, is “shameless.”

“The shamelessness of a country. Before God and man, the sun, the mother, the uncle, and the Holy Spirit, you swore that you would never go to the IMF as long as the E-Levy was passed. By some political jingoisms, you were able to pass the so-called E-Levy,” he said.

“After passing the demonic E-Levy, less than a month later, you are knocking on the doors of the so-called IMF,” he added.

The controversial singer claimed that the IMF is playing on the intelligence of the Finance Minister, but he is unaware due to his ignorance.

“Now the IMF is playing politics with you. The IMF is giving you several ropes for you to hang your citizens. The IMF is dangling a carrot in front of you, and you are not seeing the ditch that is in front of you. What a country!” Blakk Rasta laments.

Meanwhile, the censure motion filed against Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta by the minority caucus has failed.

The two-thirds required to approve the motion through voting was unsuccessful as the majority staged a walkout before the censure vote commenced.

How Yaw Dabo brilliantly defended his height, made nonsense of his critics

Yaw Dabo, a popular Kumawood actor and football administrator has brilliantly schooled people who are always talking down on him because of his height.

The pint-sized actor said he is happy he was born that way because he might not have been successful if he had a normal height.

“Not everything you see is as it seems. God had a reason for creating me this way; maybe if I were like you, I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am now, but then, since God created me this way, I am better than you,” he stated.

He told those who spare time to speak ill of him to check themselves before talking down on his height because most of them may not match his level of achievement in life.

He emphasised while speaking to Accra-FM’s Nana Romeo that some of his naysayers may wish to serve him.

“For those who insult me, maybe I am better than you. If I were in your family and I called you to do something for me, you probably would run to get it done. I would probably send you to get chairs if a funeral came home,” he said.

“To the person insulting me, should there be a funeral in your house, the wealthiest person will make you carry the coffin. Look, I always say, before you insult someone, you need to look at yourself before rubbishing them,” he advised.

The actor said he is careful about what he says about other people because the Bible frowns on ill-speech.

“I watch my mouth when saying things about other people. The Bible advises that men lock their mouths with padlocks because it could get them in trouble. The mouth can put you in trouble, and this may lead you to say something ill about someone and later look for them to apologise but won’t find them,” he said.

Court annuls Eastern Regional NDC youth organizer election

A Koforidua High Court presided by His Lordship Nana Yaw Gyamfi Frimpong has upheld an application nullifying the Eastern Regional Youth Organizer election of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC.

The ruling of the court Thursday December 8, 2022 comes less than 48 hours before the national youth organizer conference to be held in Cape Coast in the Central Region on Saturday December 10, 2022.

The former Regional Youth Organizer Emmanuel Okai Minta challenged the legality of the Regional youth organizer election held on November 11, 2022 at Nsawam which saw his then deputy Regional youth organizer Richard Etornam Nyarko defeat him with 55 votes as against 52 votes he obtained which also saw Fohad Abgenyadzi had 51 whiles Tetteh Nathaniel polled 23 to secure two deputy Regional youth organizer positions.

According to the plaintiff, the Constituency youth organizers their deputies and other youth executives making a total of six(6) delegates from Afram Plains South and Atewa West were not eligible to take part in the election because the Functional Executives committee of the party had nullified the elections in the said constituencies in a press release.

That, they ought not to have taken part in the election.

The plaintiff prayed the court to place a perpetual injunction restraining Richard Etornam Nyarko from holding himself as Regional Youth Organizer or any other executive within the Regional executive committee until a fresh election is conducted.

A declaration that Atiwa West and Afram Plains South illegally voted at the youth wing elections held on November 11, 2022, and an order to annul the Eastern Regional Youth wing election by virtue of the aforesaid infractions.

However, the defence counsel Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe in an affidavit in opposition filed a subsequent press release issued by the Acting Director of Election at the NDC headquarters, Daniel Amartey, withdrawing their earlier decision and upholding the legitimacy of the election and the six delegates herein.

But the Judge, in his ruling, stated that the subsequent press release purportedly issued by Daniel Amartey is invalid since it lacks originality.

He also said the applicant stated he wrote a petition dated 14th November 2022 to the General Secretary of the NDC in which he raised the issues in his action and the application herein, three days after the elections as a means of using the internal mechanism for the issue to be addressed.

The petition was copied to all the appropriate structures of the party but was ignored.

The judge said “the situation where people in authority with the power to manipulate the conduct of elections has become a canker in our democratic dispensation which must be stopped. The conduct of elections is a human institution and therefore cannot be free from all the imperfections of human organization. But where some people deliberately prevent other candidates from picking or purchasing forms so as to prevent them from participating in elections, manipulating the electoral register, allowing delegates who are otherwise unqualified to take part in elections doing so to give an advantage to opposing candidates, massaging figures or simply employing such diabolical tactics do not lighten our burden on this journey to mature Democratic country” the judge said

He, therefore, upheld the application of the plaintiff and nullified the regional youth organizer election but said the court cannot direct the NDC to hold a fresh election since it is subject to the internal arrangement of the party.

“In the circumstances, it is declared that the 6 delegates from Atiwa West and Afram Plains South constituencies who participated and voted in the youth wing elections held on 11th November, 2022 were not entitled to have taken part which made their votes illegal. The said election is therefore declared null and void.

“Accordingly, respondents are restrained from upholding the youth wing elections of the 1st Respondent (NDC) held on 11th November, 2022. The 5th Respondent (Richard Etornam Nyarko) in particular is restrained from holding himself as a duly elected Eastern Regional youth organizer of the 1st Respondent or participating in any national or Regional executive committee or taking part in any elections in his capacity as or by virtue of having been elected as Youth organizer until fresh you wing elections are held”.

The judge concluded the ruling that “I cannot however grant relief 3 by ordering the 1st Respondent to liaise with the 4the respondent to organize a fresh Youth wing elections in the Eastern region since the party has the right to change its internal organisation and structures for elections and may put in place different structures for the effective and credible elections “.

Edudzi Tamakloe told the media that, he will consult his client for the next line of action. He said the ruling by the judge suggests he has made a determination on the substantive case.

However, Lawyer Isaac Larbi Esq, a member of the defence team said they may file a certiorari application against the ruling on grounds that the court proceeded to grant the reliefs on the writ in an injunction application when the merits of the case are yet to be determined.

My aim is to empower NDC women – Dep National Women Organiser hopeful Hajia Alijata

Aspiring Deputy Women Organiser for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hajia Alijata Sulemana Gbentie, has stressed her vision to help build and empower the women’s front of the party.

According to the former Member of Parliament for Sissala East, she aims to use the platform of deputy women’s organiser to empower females within the NDC to contribute to national growth.

She believes this will be possible by leveraging her experience and connections acquired through her history as a former Assemblywoman, former District Chief Executive (DCE) as well as a former Member of Parliament (MP).

“For example, I am an alumnus of the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL), I have gone for their programmes and sometimes they ask me to nominate young men and women to participate in their programmes. Every year they come out with new programmes. They have alumni funding and if I am elected, I can access the funds to support women in my party.

“I also belong to the Israelis Shalom Club which also has women empowerment programmes such as entrepreneurship, and women in agri-business and sometimes I get asked to nominate people. So when I am elected, I will connect the women in our party to go and take part in the programme so they will be well established and support the citizenry in Ghana upon their return,” she told Kwabena Owusu Agyemang, host of Top FM’s Final Point programme during an interview.

Hajia Alijata is in the race for the NDC’s deputy national women’s organiser position for the party’s national executives election slated for December 17, 2022.

She has to her credit years of accumulated political experience having served as the for Tumu Zongo Electoral Area. DCE for Sissala East District Assembly as well as MP for Sissala East on the ticket of the NDC between 2013 and 2016.

She is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of a Non-Governmental Organization, SODES Foundation.

Hajia Alijata is hopeful of clinching victory in the upcoming election.
