You don’t have enough sense to ‘impart’ some into Mahama – Ashanti NDC flays NAPO

Officials of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, have taken on Manhyia South Member of ParliamentDr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

The party held a press conference on Thursday, October 20, 2022, to respond to some comments made by the MP earlier this week.

The MP, popularly referred to as NAPO is reported to have taken a swipe at former president John Dramani Mahama, among others stating that he was going to teach Mahama sense come 2024.

“There is a man called Matthew Opoku Prempeh who has stated at Suame that the NDC couldn’t bring any good candidate but John Dramani Mahama, that he is ready to verbally teach Mahama a lesson.

“Mr. NAPO, Mahama is not your mate, for all it’s worth, how much sense do you have to want to teach some to Mr. John Mahama?” an incensed party official stated.

He called out NAPO for his record at the Education Ministry accusing him of having denigrated teachers. “What was your record at the Education Ministry, did you not run down people who went to the Training College?”

He stressed that if NAPO had any sense to impart to anyone, he should start by sharing with Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to help him turn about the sinking economic fortunes of the country.

“We want to tell the Manhyia South MP that even if he has any sense as he claims, he should advance some to Bawumia to tackle the economic challenges so that people in his constituency – Alabar and Ashtown – to ameliorate the hardship and loss of livelihoods people are suffering.

NDC rebirth group kicks against Asiedu Nketia’s ‘endorsement’ for Chairman

Ahead of the National Congress of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), some stakeholders in the party have rejected the purported endorsement of the General Secretary of NDC, Mr. Asiedu Nketia as National Chairman.

There were reports that former President John Mahama had anointed Mr. Asiedu as the Consensus candidate for the position of the NDC National Chairman.

But the party’s stakeholders in Volta Region under the ageis of NDC Rebirth at a press conference in Ho said any endorsement of Asiedu Nketia as the chairman of the party is a very dangerous gamble, one that signals a return of NDC to the hands of the original anti- Rawlings members.

NDC Rebirth Spokesperson, Delano Agbe in the address said, Mr. Asiedu Nketia, is not deserving of the coveted seat in NDC ahead of other aspirants who have an unwavering belief in the ideals of the party founder Jerry John Rawlings and have to use their valuable resources, laboured day and night for its success.

Delanyo said the former member of Parliament and former deputy minister and current General Secretary has not demonstrated any commitment to being young people inclined, especially at a time when the young members of NDC who constitute more than 80% of the membership have been singing about marginalisation and non-inclusion.

“The lingering and now widespread speculation as to the plan to sideline party members who seem to believe in the ideals and principle of the founder of the party Jerry Rawlings.

“We believe also that Mr. Asiedu Nketia’s undemocratic nature, and in his recent unwarranted attacks on the incumbent chairman, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo doesn’t represent the character of national chairman.

He failed grossly in reconciling aggrieved members of the party.

“Additionally, he does not possess the democratic credentials that should be exemplary of a National Chairman in a party like the NDC, considering that he was one of the strong opponents of Rawlings and also the brain behind the so-called sacking of party members who have contrary views regarding party management issues.

“At this point in the life of the NDC, what we need is a leader that can midwife and guide us to secure victory in the 2024 elections and definitely not an individual who does not originally share in the ideals of the NDC nor one whose temperament and level of tolerance will further deepen the disappointments of already disillusioned party members.

“As stakeholders, we would rather throw our weight behind an aspirant whose integrity is unquestionable, someone who has demonstrated a proven capacity for youth inclusion and the ability to harvest the energy of young people to drive party activities, especially in this age of digital and social media mobilization.

“We believe that delegates at the National Congress will elect a National Chairman that will bring Unity to the Party not the likes of Mr. Asiedu Nketia” the NDC Rebirth Coordinator stated.

Elect mature and experienced people to ensure victory 2024 – Ade-Coker

Mr. Joseph Kobina Ade-Coker, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cautioned the rank and file of the party to be mindful of the calibre of people they elect in tomorrow’s constituency elections.

According to him, the calibre of people they elect on Saturday will determine victory for the party in the 2024 general elections.

He cautioned delegates to vote for competent, mature, and experienced people who are tried and tested and have a track record to ensure smooth victory for the NDC.

He said the nine constituency executives to be elected on Saturday, October 22, 2022, must be people who are ready to work for the NDC to appreciate and consolidate its votes in 2024.

“The calibre of people you elect tomorrow will determine the success of the party going into the 2024 general elections,” he noted.

The NDC regional chairman who is seeking to be re-elected issued this warning while speaking on the Ghana Yensom morning show hosted by Emmanuel Quarshie (The Hitman) on Accra 100.5 FM on Friday, October 21, 2022.

“You can have a beautiful car but if the driver is bad, the car will crash,” he highlighted.

“If you elect people who are not competent, mature, tried and tested, the results will be ‘Garbage In, Garbage Out (GIGO)’,” he explained.

He said the rank and file of the party in the region should vote for people who can consolidate the NDC’s gain in the region.

“The NDC has 20 out of the 34 seats in the GAR.

There is a need for mature people to be elected to annex seats such as Amasaman, Bortianor, Ablekuma West, Tema West, and Ayawaso West Wuogon among others. So the delegates must elect who has unity for the purpose of ensuring these seats are won,” Ade-Coker elaborated.

“Let’s come out of these elections in peace and not in pieces,” he further entreated.

Good luck; vote wisely – Grace Ayensu to NDC as she gingers Essikado- Ketan delegates ahead of 2024

The 2020 Essikado-Ketan Parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah has sent a congratulatory message to all aspirants as delegates go to the Polls tomorrow, to elect constituency executives.

Dr Ayensu-Danquah who is optimistic of successful elections across the country following the meticulous job done by the party’s elections committee so far, is also urging delegates to properly assess campaign messages and the track record of candidates and ensure they elect the best to lead them for the grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2024 elections.

According to the American trained General Surgeon, Burn and Burn Reconstructive Surgeon, who was speaking to the Women’s wing of the Essikado constituency, there is no doubt about clear signs of victory come 2024, but cannot be any room for complacency and the party must not only recognize loyalty but carefully elect teams from the constituency, regional and the national levels, who will not leave anything to chance but hard work.

Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, as part of her contribution to whip up enthusiasm ahead of the ongoing elections is also scheduled to meet the youth wing of the party in the constituency.

“the objective is to encourage them to appreciate the fact that this election is crucial but a family affair. All candidates who were cleared by the vetting committee are appreciated for their role in the development of the party in Sekondi Takoradi at large but only one will be victorious. What we are working at is to ensure we remain intact after the polls for the bigger task ahead, that is to kick out the disgraced Nana Akufo Addo government and the Parliamentary seat they stole from us in 2020”… she explained.

Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah who spoke to this reporter observed that, lessons from the 2020 elections should inform how the party prepares itself to face an already rejected party in government, bent on winning at all cost under the mantra Break the 8.

To ensure a smooth exercise this weekend, she aside other logistical support, has pledged to provide free transportation for delegates in the remote areas to exercise their franchise.

‘I strongly believe the NDC is highly motivated today. Our wish is to go through the elections at both the constituency and regional levels to set the stage for an all out campaign.”… she emphasized.

She added… “The youth have become even more desperate and there is no direction from this government except the lip service, sloganeering and populist policies designed as job for the boys. Even then, these poor young men and women are realizing they are election strategies like what we saw under NABCo, who are owed over seven months at the time the programme was officially close two months ago and yet, there are two new ones, YouStart and the engagement of SHS graduates as Community Health Assistants while trained professional remain unemployed for the past three years”

Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah in 2020, gave the veteran Essikado ketan MP, Joe Ghartey a run for his money sweeping most votes in what has been traditionally known an NPP safe seat since the constituency was hived off the Sekondi constituency prior to the 2004 elections.

Her party still believes she won the election polling over 51 percent of total votes cast across 152 polling stations within the constituency but was stolen for the former Attorney General and Minister for Railways.

According to the certified results by the EC, the incumbent Joe Ghartey won 26,701 votes, beating Dr Ayensu Danquah who had 24,527 by just 2,174, votes compared to a margin of over 10,000 in favour of the same NPP candidate in 2016 and previous years.
