Ghana’s World Cup star Mohammed Kudus has been honoured with a mural in his hometown Nima.

On his World Cup debut, the 22-year-old Ajax player is shining brightly. So far, he has been Ghana’s best player, with three goal contributions in two games.

Kudus set up Ghana’s first goal in Qatar, a brilliant pass to Andre Ayew, who scored in the 3-2 loss to Portugal, and then he became the first Ghanaian to score a World Cup brace in Ghana’s second match against South Korea on Monday, inspiring Ghana to a 3-2 victory that increased the Black Stars’ chances of qualifying for the knockout stage.

In honour of Kudus’ outstanding performance in Qatar, a local artist created a mural and discussed his inspiration for it.

According to him, Kudus competing in the global tournament and shining is a “dream” and “inspiration” for the young ones in the community. He believes the midfielder is changing the “negative” narrative about Nima.

“A lot has been said about this community, mostly negative stories, and we are trying to change the narrative through our work. I’m doing art. I’ve painted around like six continents out of seven, and Kudus is carrying the dream away, so I feel it’s an honour to paint him and tell a story to inspire the young generation to move out of their comfort zone and make it,” he told TV3.
