2022 World Cup: French Ambassador congratulates Black Stars for qualification

The French Ambassador to Ghana, Anne-Sophie Avé has lauded the Black Stars following their qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars, who are four-time African champions secured one of the continent’s five available slots at the Mundial scheduled to be hosted in Qatar later this year.

Ghana edged Nigeria in a 1-1 aggregate scoreline over two legs last month.

Speaking as a guest speaker at the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace held at Decathlon’s head office in Kawukudi, the Ambassador stated it is her wish Ghana could go all the way in the tournament and win it for the first time.

“Congratulations to the Black Stars for qualifying to the Qatar World Cup, I wish them all the best and wish I hope they go all the way to the finals and even win it,” she said.

“You know my country, France has won it twice, and I’m not even bragging, so we can say we are okay, but I wish Ghana the very best,” she added.

Ghana is in Group H for the tournament and will face Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup which will be played in Qatar will commence on 21st November.

Ghana will open their campaign against Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha.

Four days later, the Black Stars return to action with a clash with South Korea at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.

Ghana will wrap up their group stage adventure with their much-anticipated encounter with Uruguay at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah.
