I can solve Black Stars goal scoring woes, says ex-WAFA striker Daniel Lomotey

Ghanaian young striker, Daniel Lomotey says he has the antidote to Black Stars goal-scoring woes when given the opportunity.

Lomotey has also risen through the ranks at the international level, playing and excelling for Ghana’s U20 team, the Black Satellites.

Despite waiting for his first Black Stars call-up, the former WAFA forward believes he can solve the country’s goal-scoring problem.

“I can rescue Ghana’s goal-scoring problem, I’m born to score and that’s what I’m blessed with,” he said, as quoted by Ghanasoccernet.

“My goal-scoring record is there to show. I scored four goals in a single game in the Ghana Premier League. I scored the 400th goal in Ghana’s football history.

“At age 16 I scored four goals in Ghana’s football history and I have scored against Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak,” he added.

The 22-year-old currently plays for Algerian giants ES Setif and scored on his debut for the club last month.

The Black Stars have struggled to score goals in the absence of Asamoah Gyan, who is the country’s all-time top-scorer with 51 goals.

In Gyan’s absence, Jordan Ayew has been Ghana’s first-choice striker, although the Crystal Palace forward hasn’t been clinical enough.

Ghana has found the net just two times in their last four matches, including friendlies and World Cup qualifiers.

Bisa Health, GIZ making telemedicine accessible to all

Bisa Technologies (formerly known as Oasis Websoft) has developed a new free mobile health application to provide public education on COVID-19 and respond to pressing questions from the public about the pandemic.

Designed with the motive of reducing face-to-face doctor consultation and congestion at health facilities, the all-new Bisa App will allow patients to have direct access to doctors and health experts who are readily available to respond to and address all issues of public health concern pro bono.

The Managing director and the brain behind the application Mr. Raindolf Owusu indicated that the data gathered on the BISA platform will adhere to doctor-patient confidentiality. Alternatively, health experts will be able to detect outbreaks of diseases at an early stage and decision-makers can also implement the right policies to meet the healthcare needs of people and communities.

“During this time, the BISA app will serve as an opportunity for users to receive health information on the pandemic, check their symptoms, and receive expert advice. The tool will also serve as a means for health authorities to follow up on patients being treated at home and will also provide psychological support to survivors and health workers,” Mr. Owusu noted.

Bisa Health Application aims to be the pioneer of telemedicine in Africa on two major fronts; firstly in information dissemination with regards to disease prevention and control and secondly, in connecting patients to doctors through the use of technology.

Implemented through the develoPPP program, this pivotal initiative is engineered in partnership with GIZ Ghana and the Ghana Health Service (GES), and financed by the German government through the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The develoPPP program was established by BMZ to amongst other things, support and foster the involvement of the private sector in developing countries and emerging economies.

Let’s support Stonebwoy, Sarkodie — Shatta Wale calls on Ghanaians

Shatta Movement Empire boss Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known Shatta Wale is calling out to Ghanaian lovers to support his colleague Afro Dancehall singer Stonebwoy and Tema based rapper Sarkodie.

It is not clear what may have prompted the situational irony but the ‘Melisa’ crooner took to his Twitter page to make the post.

The fans of each artist have always been at each other, dissing the artists in the least provocation.

Shatta Wale in his recent post said his fanbase should stop dissing Sarkodie and Stonebwoy, but rather support them to move forward.

It is recalled that the two, Stonebwoy and Sarkodie had an unfortunate banter last year and that led the latter’s manager Angel Town getting a jab in the face.

Fans of the two have gone at each other on social media and Shatta Wale thinks that is not a step in the right direction.

Whiles others think this is a surprise, coming from a boisterous Shatta Wale who is currently in bad blood with Reggae Dancehall giant star Samini, others have lauded him for the peace initiative.

NHIA intensifies NHIS, Ghana cards linkage

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in collaboration with the National Identification Authority (NIA) is determined to make it possible for all residents in Ghana to use one card for healthcare access.

The NHIA has therefore intensified its campaigns and encourages holders of the NHIS and Ghana cards to merge the two in line with the “One nation, one card for healthcare service,” agenda.

The NHIA urges those who are yet to do the merger to still use their NHIS cards for healthcare service, as we work towards replacing the NHIS cards with the Ghana card for accessing healthcare.

The NHIA is mindful that those under 15 years are yet to receive a Ghana card for which reason there are exemptions to make sure that no vulnerable person is left behind, including pregnant women.

Plans are far advanced to make it possible for all Ghana cardholders to do self-registration onto the NHIS database, instead of visiting the district offices for the same service.

As it continues to impact people’s health-seeking behaviour, the NHIS is on course to deliver its ambitious target of providing access to quality and affordable health care services, to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in 2030.
