2021 AFCON: ‘Let us all unite and support Black Stars’ – Kwesi Nyantakyi implores Ghanaians

Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi has pleaded with Ghanaians to throw their weight behind the Black Stars in the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Cameroon.

The four-time African Champions are on a quest to end their 40 years trophy drought.

In his first media appearance since receiving a worldwide Fifa ban in 2018, Nyantakyi said the team need the support of every Ghanaian.

“This is my country and everybody knows that and this is Black Stars,” he told Accra based Onua FM.

“When the Black Stars is playing, everybody supports the team and that is what I am also going to do.”

He then admonished: “Let us all unite and support the team because when the team performs, everybody will say Ghana and not one person’s name.

“This is not the time to be saying stuff that divides the country. Let us all stay united and support the team.”

Ghana are in Group C of the Cameroon Afcon with Morocco, Gabon and Comoros. The Black Stars open their campaign against the Atlas Lion on January 10.

Milovan Rajevac has been tasked by the Ghana Football Association [GFA] to steer the team to win the trophy in Yaounde.
