A sumptuous strike from Yaw Annor on Saturday afternoon propelled Ashanti Gold SC to defeat Great Olympics 1-0 in the Ghana Premier League.
The highly-rated attacker today started for the Miners when the team visited the Accra Sports Stadium to honour a date with the Dade Boys on matchday 26 of the 2021/22 Ghanaian top-flight league.
Throughout the tough contest that ensued between the two teams, Yaw Annor was a torn in the flesh of the defense of the home team.
He made good use of a fantastic counter-attacking play from the visitors in the 68th minute to win the game for his team.
He received a pass on the edge of the Great Olympics area and fired a wonderful shot that flew past the stranded goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
Despite the good efforts from the hosts, the team could not score and had to succumb to the defeat at the end of the 90 minutes.
Courtesy of today’s win, Ashanti Gold SC have climbed to 9th on the Ghana Premier League table. For Great Olympics, the team occupies the 5th spot on the log.
