Accra: The Sports Advisory Board of the African Union (AU) has appointed former Ghanaian Olympian Reks Brobby to serve on the newly reconstituted Technical Committee for the 14th African Games, which are set to be hosted by Egypt in 2027. Alongside Brobby, notable figures such as Dr. Decius Chipande, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Nasser, Madam Angela Martins, Sid Ahmed Selmi, Dr. Samuel Ogbondeminu, Mr. Zenon Kabamba Representative, Mr. James Akama, and Mr. Stanley Mutoya have also been appointed to the committee.
According to Ghana News Agency, Reks Brobby previously served as the Deputy Chief Operating Officer for the 13th African Games Local Organising Committee, which Ghana successfully hosted in March 2024. His pivotal contributions during the two-week sporting event were instrumental, as the games attracted impressive global viewership.
The appointment of Brobby to the Technical Committee was formalized through a letter signed by Dr. Decius Chipande, AUSC Coordinator, on October 21, 2024. The newly constituted comm
ittee convened their first meeting via Zoom on Friday, November 1, and plans to hold their inaugural physical meeting in Addis Ababa from November 20 to 22, 2024.
