Sunon Asogli Power, the first successful Independent Power Producer (IPP) in Ghana has donated a Chemistry Analyzer and a Sysmex Hematology Analyzer worth about a GHC100,000 to Kpone Polyclinic as the medical facility marks its 25th anniversary.
In delivering a speech on that occasion, Jin Zhengyi, the General Manager of Sunon Asogli Power said the gesture forms part of the organization’s corporate social responsibilities. He stressed that the equipment will be very useful to the facility as it will help in saving the lives of patients.
“This equipment is essential in boosting the laboratory services for treating clients with diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, obesity, and other chronic non-communicable diseases. This in effect will also help in upgrading the facility and strengthen preventive, primary health care as well as secondary health services”, Jin Zhengyi remarked.
He reiterated that Sunon Asogli Power’s resolve to contribute its quota to the development remains inflexible, a reason the organization has made other donations in the past and provided other forms of support to communities.
“The company constructed a 4km concrete road to serve the community, as well as an astroturf football field for the youth of the community, and made various donations to the Kpone police station and fire service,” he said.
“As the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us, our health is extremely important and access to quality health care is essential to one’s livelihood. This is the reason why Sunon Asogli Power took the opportunity to heed the call of the Kpone Polyclinic”, Jin Zhengyi added.
Sunon Asogli Power has been in commercial operation since 2011. According to the General Manager, the company’s vision to “set up a 560 MW combined-cycle natural gas power plant to alleviate the country’s intermittent power shortages and load management, as well as to contribute to the realization of the vision of making Ghana the energy hub of Africa” will soon be realized.
He further disclosed that “Sunon Asogli Power, in addition, is looking at setting up renewable energy projects in Ghana and sub-Saharan Africa to help fulfill the renewable energy agenda.”
Present at the occasion were Nii Tetteh Otu II, Paramount Chief of Kpone Traditional area; members of the Kpone Traditional Council; Hon. Joseph Akuerteh Tettey, Member of Parliament for Kpone Katamanso; Samuel Okoe Amanquah, Municipal Chief Executive; Solomon Appiah, former Municipal Chief Executive; Dr. Esther Danquah, Municipal Health Director; and Dr. Dorothea Keelson, the doctor in charge of the Kpone Polyclinic.
