NPP Delegates Conference: Loud Bawumia cheers ‘a protest’ against his lies, economic mismanagement – Asiedu Nketia

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has told supporters of Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia not to gloat over the cheers he received at the just-ended National Delegates Conference of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) held in the Ashanti regional capital of Kumasi.

He said that action, in his view, was all for the lies Dr Bawumia has peddled about the economy over the years.

Dr Bawumia was ushered into the grounds for the Conference by all the governing party’s MPs who have constituencies in the region, when he arrived at the venue on Sunday, 19 December 2021.

The delegates were heard chanting “next to lead”, as the Vice-President entered the congress grounds.

The chants were even bigger when he was invited to address the Conference.

However, Mr Asiedu Nketia told Iddrisu Awudu on Accra100.5FM’s morning show Ghana Yensom in a post-Conference interview that the cheers were Dr Bawumia’s contribution to the running down of the economy.

“The vice-president was applauded for having brought untold hardships to Ghanaians under the administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” Mr Nketia stressed on Monday, 20 December 2021.

In his view, the loud cheers and applause were a protest against Dr Bawumia’s mismanagement of the economy.

“The applause was for how the vice-president had been deficient in the management of the economy”, he emphasised.

He wondered what the Vice-President has done to deserve such an applause at a national conference of that nature.

Mr Nketia said the Vice-President has mismanaged the economy to an extent that he does not feel confident commenting on the situation anymore and, so, has now transmogrified into digitalisation guru.

Mr Nketia observed that the Vice-President is championing digitalisation as if there was no sector minister for that sector.
