Ningo-Prampram District: Outgoing DCE congratulates nominee

Prampram,- Mr Jonathan Teye Doku, the outgoing Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive (DCE), has congratulated his successor, Mr Latif Amanor, the President’s Nominee, and promised to support him in his work.

“I wish to pledge my unflinching support to the new DCE nominee whilst also thanking the good people of Ningo-Prampram for their support and prayers during my tenure as the DCE,” Mr Doku told the Ghana News Agency in an interview.

He said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was a big family, therefore, the nominee must be given the full support by members to succeed and expressed appreciation to President Akufo-Addo for giving him the opportunity to serve in his first term of office.

“I must say that it was refreshing serving under a great leader like the President and through his guidance, I learnt a lot in terms of local governance,” Mr Doku said.

Meanwhile Mr Joseph Korto, the National Dean of Presiding Members, has commended President Akufo-Addo and Mr Dan Kwaku Botwe, the Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, for their diligence in settling on the final list of MMDCEs.

At a media briefing in Accra after the announcement of the nominations, Mr Korto called on the regional deans and all presiding members to work towards confirming the nominees to ensure development at all levels

He said the names had gone through regional and national vetting committees through the Minister, National Security and to the President and it was only fair for the assemblies to confirm the nominees.

“Although there were many competent names out there, it is one person that can serve an assembly at a time and so the rest need to return to the drawing board to support the nominees for growth and development….”

Mr Korto urged all to put their shoulders to the wheel to accelerate good governance, growth and development at all levels.

Mr Dan Botwe on Sunday released the list of 260 metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives for confirmation at the various assemblies.
