Obuasi (Ash), – Mama Love Foundation (MLF), a charity organization at Obuasi in collaboration with Obuasi Sikakrom Association in London, has organized an empowerment summit for some selected widows in the Obuasi Municipality.
The aim was to find appropriate ways to support the widows financially so as to be able to cater for their health, socio-economic life and businesses to enable them live independently.
About 200 widows participated in the summit, which was also supported by Owusu-Dapaa Law and Associates, Ugenmal Travel Consult, Bonsu Group of Companies, JFA Medical Centre, State of Earth School, David Darko Timbers and Love K. Music.
Twenty (20) of them received various cash donations to help alleviate some of the financial challenges they were currently going through.
Dr Carl Augustt, the Medical Director of JFA Medical centre in Obuasi, speaking at the summit stressed the need for the women to take good care of their health to enable them stay longer in life to cater for their children.
They should attend hospitals regularly to check their health status and take medications prescribed to them by doctors.
Dr Augustt who also conducted free medical screening on diabetes and high blood pressure for the widows, urged them not to joke with their health conditions, but they should report to a health facility anytime they were not well.
Mr Eugene Kofi Amankwaa, CEO of Ugenmal Travel Consult, pledged to offer financial support regularly to the widows to enable them stay comfortable.
Nana Serwaa Bruwaa II, queen of Akrokerri, advised the widows to take good care of the monies given them by investing in profitable ventures to derive full benefits.
She also urged them to take good care of their health.
Dr Love Konadu, Founder of Mama Love Foundation and Ambassador to Obuasi Sikakrom Association in London, asked the widows to make rightful decisions on the financial support received to enable them live a meaningful life.
