Kadjebi NIA Office commences work

Kadjebi (O/R), Nov. 30, GNA-The Kadjebi District Office of the National Identification Authority (NIA) has operationalised its office to assist applicants redeem their Ghana Card in the district.

The directorate had 1,781 Ghana Cards in custody, registered 78 persons for new cards and printed 19 cards as at Monday.

Mr. Angelo Fiawotoafor, District Registration Officer (DRO), disclosed this at an Inter-Service, Sectoral Collaboration and Co-operation System (ISCCS) meeting at Kadjebi in the Oti Region.

He said the Ghana Card was a national identity card issued by the NIA, which bears personal information about the individual whose identity could be verified at all times.

He said the card identified and affirmed the holder as a Ghanaian gave him or her access to a world of benefits.

The DRO explained that the personal identification number and biometric data secured one from identity theft and impersonation.

He said the card also served as an ECOWAS ID Card and one could use it to travel within the sub-region as a passport.

Mr Fiawotoafor said the personal information in the National Identity Register would facilitate recognition and verification of identity by state agencies and private sector institutions.

He mentioned incessant network failure, lack of office space and lack of accommodation for staff as some of the challenges confronting them.

He called on everyone to help them render their service effectively.

Mr Alhassan Sulemana, the Kadjebi District Coordinating Director, appealed to the stakeholders and Heads of Departments within the district to encourage residents to register for the Ghana Card.

He said relevant information on the benefits of the card would encourage them to register for the card.
