GPL Wk 4: Kototo look to extend unbeaten run, Hearts in search of first win

Accra,- The last three weeks of the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season has produced some thrills and chills with all 18 teams looking to make a bright start to the season.

Defending Champions Accra Hearts of Oak have had a challenging start to the season as they are yet to record a win thus far but would be poised to get their first win when they travel to Obuasi to face AshantiGold SC.

The last time the Phobians had a win in Obuasi was back in 2016 when Cosmos Dauda scored twice to give Hearts all three points but Hearts in their last recent league visit suffered a 1-0 defeat.

The Phobians who are 11th on the league log are in urgent need of a win to kick start their season with pressure mounting on coach Samuel Boadu who has bemoaned their prolificacy in front of goal.

Asante Kotoko on the other hand have had a blistering start to the season and would be firm favourites when they host Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Isaac Oppong had been one of the standout players in the league so far and would be looking to continue his splendid start having already scored twice and making three assists in the process.

Kotoko have been ruthless upfront this season having scored six goals from the three matches and hoping to continue the remarkable run against a Wonders side they failed to register a single goal this season.

King Faisal who have been ruthless so far this season face a daunting task this week when they travel to Berekum to face Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park in the first match of the week.

Berekum Chelsea would be targeting their first win of the season having recorded just a point from their three matches but the Alhaji Grusah’s men would be looking to provide a stunning result this time around as they did to Aduana Stars a fortnight ago.

Great Olympics have had a strong start to the season and would host Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Wonder Club who have set sights on winning this season’s league faces a stern task against a rejuvenated Dreams side who has sensational Fatawu Issahaku leading the charge in attack.

Accra Lions have had a difficult outing in their first Premier League campaign having just a point this season and would be targeting a fresh start when they host Bechem United.

Aduana Stars who had a draw in the last encounter against Phobians would be looking to make amends to their last home defeat against King Faisal when they host Real Tamale United.

Real Tamale United (RTU) finally secured their first win of the season when they beat WAFA 2-0 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium but the trip to Dormaa would be a very difficult hurdle to climb if they were to upset the odds.
