FASON to provide ultra-modern biogas toilet for Aduamoa community

Kwahu Aduamoa (E/R), As part of measures to improve sanitation in Kwahu, FASON, a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Switzerland, has commenced the construction of a 12- unit toilet facility with biogas for the inhabitants of Kwahu Aduamoa.

The project, which is to be completed in six months, cost GHS240,000.00. It is to replace the dilapidated toilet facility in the community.

The project when completed would contain an office, cleaners’ room and store room.

Mr Benjamin Addo, the Country Director, who spoke with the Ghana News Agency, said the project would not only address the problem of open defecation at Aduamoa and its environs, but would generate bio- gas to be used by the community members and schools that were enrolled onto the school feeding programme.

He said for the safe use of the facility, the project had been designed in such a way that used water could be re-used after some days, adding that it was to help address the scarcity of potable water in the area.

He said it was the organisation’s objective to promote sanitation in communities across Kwahu, stating that plans were in the pipeline to establish more of such facility in the area.

Mr Addo said the NGO had already provided same facilities at Hweehwee, Obo and Abetifi communities, and promised to continue to liaise with other NGOs to address the critical sanitation challenge in the district.

He, therefore, entreated community members to give off their best and to help monitor the project to ensure its early completion.
