EU launches second DDF call for proposals on border management

Koforidua,- The Strengthening Border Security in Ghana (SBS Ghana) project, funded by European Union Emergency Trust Fund for Africa (EUTF), has launched its second Demand Driven Facility (DDF) call for proposals.

The proposal, “Innovative approaches on mobility and border management,” aims to support innovative approaches and best practices on mobility and border management.

A statement by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMD) and copied to GNA on Tuesday said the DDF proposal centred on civil society, universities, research and training institutions, think tanks, traders’ organisations and organisations representing media/media networks.

The proposal seeks to promote innovative approaches in the areas of operational and research projects to border management and mobility issues.

Thematic domains are trafficking in human beings, smuggling of migrants, human rights and gender, free movement and trade facilitation (factors boosting or hindering the movement of people and goods, including corruption and harassment).

The rest are health emergencies’ response, migration crisis and dialogue between communities and border management agencies.

The statement said the innovative approaches and best practices would have to: Increase knowledge and data management and establish or enhance cooperation mechanisms between relevant stakeholders.

It will have to also create awareness and coordination for accountability and better public service delivery and develop innovative practices to improve cooperation and mitigate issues at the border.

The deadline for applications is 12th July 2021.
