Dunkwa-on-offin(C/R), – The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has threatened a nationwide industrial strike on Thursday, January 20, 2022, to press home better conditions of service.
The Association, last year, presented a favourable salary structure to the Government but it said the structure had since not been looked at, hence the intended strike action.
Dr Isaac Bampoe Addo, the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, gave the notice at the end-of-year meeting and award ceremony of the Association, held at the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the Central Region.
”We have waited long enough and can no longer bear the frustration and demotivation that characterise these obvious inequalities,” he said.
Dr Bampoe Addo said all institutions in the country had their salaries increased, except CLOGSAG, describing it as “discriminatory”.
“The Constitution frowns on discrimination, therefore we shall fight for what we deserve,” he said.
Alhaji Apam Nuhu, the Regional Secretary, called on members to lay down their tools if the Government failed to satisfy their demands by the beginning of next year.
He commended them for their hard work and tireless efforts towards the development of the country amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Isaac Awuah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Upper Denkyira East, applauded CLOGSAG for its support and contribution to the development of the Municipality.
He congratulated all the awardees for the hard work and charged them to continue to give of their best.
Mr Awuah called on residents to adhere to the laid down safety protocols to avoid further spread of the virus during this Yuletide.
The Government, through the Ghana Health Service, had done well in containing the spread of the COVID-19, he said, and commended them for the good work.
